So, still can't receive security verification codes and now it's got worse, when anyone tries to call my number is no longer recognised!?

All that Sky has done is try to close  the incident. The last update when called in was an apology that a replacement SIM card still hasn't turned up after 2wks!!

Thats a worry. I hope mine does not go the same way with my number not being recognised !!!!

 

Its bad enough waiting so long but if it gets worse thats terrible.

Yeah it's so weird as all other messaging apps and calls work fine using data or Wi-Fi and my same number!?!

So over a month later and I've lost count of how many escalations to so called "technical experts" back office teams and still no way forward so I've rang yesterday for a PAC, 5 redirects later regergitating ALL of my details every time!! I was finally promised that it would be in my inbox within 24hrs... Over 24hrs later and no PAC, they can't even sort that. I rang again today thankfully only have repeat my details twice and I've been promised a callback on my work number... here's hoping. 
If this doesn't work I'll just have to abandon my number, cease my direct debit and start all over again, absolute joke!
I've had soo many contracts over the years both major and minor providers and none have proven to have anything close to this level of incompetency. Their CEO must be so proud!

Frustrating as it sounds cancelling your payment method is definitely not a good idea and it will cause you lots of additional problems.

 

The relevant services will be restricted, you won't be able to call Sky, the account can't be cancelled, late payment fees will be added and then Sky will involve a debt recovery company which will affect your credit rating.

Yeah my issue covers any codes from any company. BT,  SKY, PayPal, Banks, eBay, Building Societies, Their software is blocking them all!

Since I have 2 sims on my account apparently it's impossible to issue a PAC for 1, still waiting, even though I've requested it sent by registered email...

Anyone else know how I can leave this ripoff outfit and retain my number?

After over a month of paying for a service that I'm simply not receiving it is getting REALLY  annoying.

So it took daily calls all last week and I finally got hold of a PAC on Saturday ! 🥳

So this the only answer that I found works.. LEAVE SKY! 
After over a month of being pushed from pillar to post and it being "elevated" to numerous back office teams and technicians none could identify the issue never mind fix it which is quite unbelievable given the amount of people that have and continue to suffer with this problem.

@ExplodinHead Please can you let us know if now that you have moved to another network you are now able to receive security codes?

So to recap.

 

Many companies use a text message system to confirm your identity. They send a verification code to the mobile number you registered, which you type into their website to confirm its really you. Its very common but unfortunately Sky have a glitch in their software where by some of their customers are blocked from receiving these codes. It seems to centre around customers who ported their number in from another provider. The normal workaround is to ask to be identifiable another way. In fact the people with this problem ironically cannot get the verification codes Sky sends but you can ask Sky to send the code to your email address as the workaround. The real problem comes if there is no other way to get the code, Google will only send the code to your phone so if you loose access to your Google account and your number is with Sky you are very stuck.

 

Despite many customers having this problem Sky put no effort into solving it. Its thought just a simple reset of the numbers parameters solves the issue but so far getting Sky to do that has not been achieved.

 

The only solution is to leave Sky and as soon as your number is ported to another provider you will again be able to receive security codes.
