I say it is a Mac OS issue.
Sky Go worked perfectly fine with no crashes before the latest Mac update(Sonomo 14.6).
Having said that, what should happen next?
Is Sky supposed to update their software?
Or Apple may have to push out an urgent fix? I don't know.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreClearly it's something in the latest OS from Apple that has broken Sky Go, as it's not an update to Sky Go which broke it but the triggering factor for people is the OS upgrade.
Likely Sky didn't get a chance to test Sky Go with a pre-release version of the new OS so were unaware ahead of the update that the Sky Go app would break.
As per the post currently marked as the answer Sky have been able to replicate the issue and are working on a fix.

Its not a MacOS issue. Sky Go stopped working yesterday unaffected by any MacOS updates. Furthermore, the boot up sequence has altered - Cookie prefrences are outlined which ahsnt happened before and when asked to login the page appears then crashes after 2-3 secs. Previously on this thread Sky have admitted it is probably their fault - we just need a fix and quickly.

The fact that the Sky Go App is not in the Mac App Store and you get it from Sky's website instead tells you they're not keeping it as up to date as they would have to in order to get it into the App Store - it's 100% a Sky App Development (or lack of it) issue!

I am running SkyGo on MacBook Pro running Sonoma 14.5. Sky Go app was installed but did not open (it opens and immediately closes). I checked my SIP status on the terminal and got:
MBP-di-Stefano:~ apple$ csrutil status
System Integrity Protection status: unknown (Custom Configuration).
Configuration:
Apple Internal: disabled
Kext Signing: disabled
Filesystem Protections: disabled
Debugging Restrictions: disabled
DTrace Restrictions: disabled
NVRAM Protections: disabled
BaseSystem Verification: enabled
This is an unsupported configuration, likely to break in the future and leave your machine in an unknown state.
Then to enable SIP again I followed the simple procedure detailed below; after restart, now Sky Go runs normally. I hope this helps!
"You can reset SIP from your Terminal.app easy enough no r̶e̶b̶o̶o̶t̶ Recovery required.
check your status, copy and paste:
csrutil status
to enable SIP copy and paste:
sudo csrutil clear
(note— your psswd will not echo type it in anway, to proceed use the enter\return key)
reboot if necessary, check your status."

Sorry but the problem is not only Sonoma Rosetta etc. I have Mojave 10.14
Based on Sky info the app should work with my OS. Unfortunately also in my case, after May update, Sky app is not completing installation. Same situation described by many other users. Please don't forget that there are not only Sonoma users.

The app auto updates when you start it.
And this particularly issue is seemingly due to the latest Mac OS issue as that is what has caused it to start breaking on people's machines.
There were another previous issue that was still being investigated that was causing Sky Go to not start on a bunch of Macs but that is separate to the issue being reported today (as one only affects a subset of customers and the other is seemingly affecting all customers that upgrade to 14.6).

Yes if you actually read the threads of this forum there are seemingly different issues affecting Sky Go on Macs. One has been reported a for a few weeks and was affecting some customers on a range on different Macs processors and OS.
The issue reported today is different and is related specifically to Sky Go breaking once the OS has been upgraded.

@MarkGoldsmith exactly, which is why it's strange moderators here have merged that different issue into this thread

I've had the same issues and it is very annoying and irratating. This too has gone on for me for over 12 months and i have completed every reset option, deleted the app, reinstalled the app endlessly.
Please provide some geniune help Sky. I've been a customer for over 25 years and this is just leaving a very disappointing taste for us.
Please reply ASAP this week, thanks

I have a Mac mini m2 everything fine with sky go until yesterday when I received the Sonoma 14.6 upgrade. The app started crashing at opening. I sent the report to apple they told me it's a sky isse because the latest Mac update breaks something related to Rosetta ( the app is not arm native) and that "sky developers must fix it quickly " (apple technician by phone)

So disappointing that the original issue, which many of us are still experiencing after more than 2 months now, has apparently been superseded by this new issue. It's great that Sky can apparently reproduce this new issue and are supposedly working on a fix for it, but what about the original problem? Supplanting a new issue and "solution" onto an old thread unresolved thread is very frustrating and makes it feel like these forums are similarly unfit for purpose as with the Sky Go app itself.
@Daniel-F can the rest of us who have been following and replying in good faith, with all the requested info, since the start of this thread at the end of May, please get an update on the original issue?

in my opinion sky developers shoud develop abetter appa native for arm (silicon) and for intel/x64. Emulation is **bleep** and leads to preblems like this

canceled sky subscription (was insanely high anyway, 66 euros per month!!). Since i just follow F1 and tennis there was no point.
(removed)
I did a new web subscription with NOW for just 15 euros (sport) and happy. Bye bye sky

You do realise NOW TV is a Sky company/service, so you are still paying them for the content, albeit less because you are able to only subscribe to sport.
