It certainly sounds very unreasonable that they do not make it easy. I only upgraded from my Windows 8 PC which was perfectly good because SkyGo stopped working on Windows 8. I  AM finding the new computer better  but I spent hours trying to get SkyGo on the Windows 11 computer. Since my very long posts above on this thread it has  continued to work fine so the issue is over for me but surely when they stopped it working on Windows 8 an email to all subscribers with detailed instructions as to exactly what you need to do/download to your Windows 11 computer to make it work and other devices on which people watch should be sent out as a matter of course (just as last month BT moved me from an analogue landline to Digital Voice and there were lots of warning and then very detailed instructions on the new modem and how to use the new modem with the landline device etc).

 

I am probably unusual in that my adult sons use the TV with all the sky set up etc for which I pay and I only ever watch in my own room / office on my PC  on SkyGo.

 

I hope anyone still struggling gets theirs to work. Mine is now fine so far....

This worked for me:

  1.      Launch the Sky Go app.
  2.      Go to Settings, then Updates.
  3.      Tick the Beta option.

I don't seem able to tick the Beta option properly. I can select the radio button which brings up an information pop-up about the beta version, but clicking the button for 'Join Beta' doesn't do anything. Only the 'Cancel' button works.

At last. Had the windows update to 25H2 yesterday and now SkyGo works as it should. I uninstalled the 'VirtualBox' software and now all good.

Why is this solution so hidden - it's so simple and removes any need for the hideously problamatic W11 Sky Go App.
Thanks for the post caesarome, i've wasted so many hours over the last 8-9 months trying to get Sky on my W11 desktop - you're a hero!!

I kept having with a blue screen after skygo checked for updates, so the next time I loaded I tried changing my cookie settings and saving the new settings and I was able to login fine. I've set my cookie settings back to the previous value and all is still fine. Corrupt cookie? Anyway I'm good now

The Compatibility Mode only seems to support upto Windows 8 - so if you are still having problems, right click on the desktop Icon

Go into Properties, then Compatibilities, and uncheck Compatibility Mode and themn Apply.

right click on the desktop Icon

Hi, did you manage to get this sorted. This is exactly what is happening with mine now. 

 

I have a new W11 laptop, installed the Sky Go from the Sky website, it loads, checks for updates and then crashes. 

 

I have tried all the steps with compatibility, checking folders so they are not read-only, Windows Firewall, added to the allow list for both private and public, but nothing is working for me.

 

Any help would be appreciated

The solution was posted on page 3 by SkyGoUser94.

 

It's as follows.

 

 

I was having the same frustrating issues with the Sky Go volume and full screen controls when watching content. I planned to install a Windows 10 virutal machine just to install the Sky Go application on. What I found after enabling the Hyper-V Platform windows fearture was that the application then worked as expected. If I disable the windows feature the issues return! Hopefully this is useful to other users.

This sorted my SkyGo out and it's still Ok 12 months later.

Thank you for sharing, I didn't originally have that on my laptop so had to do a reset. I found the option and ticked the box / restarted, but still having the same problem unfortunately. I will try uninstalling again and reinstalling, see if that works.

I think Sky eventually fixed the app so the steps outlined by required of Windows and sky app are up to date.
