Re: Sky Go App for Windows 11 not working properly

Just a quick post, received an update now version 25.3.3.

The problems started again after being resolved by post 31.

Had to undo the Hyper V fixes and now it works as normal again

Re: Sky Go App for Windows 11 not working properly

SkyGo no longer works on windows 8. I therefore bought a whole new PC for about £700 because of SkyGo. Yet it also does not work on Window 11. I spent hours on this yesterday. (I can watch it on windows 10 on my lap to). I pay about £83 a month for sky and only watch it in my home office on Sky Go . I bought a whole new computer whic hhas windows 11 because Sky stopped allowing Skygo to work with Windows 8 and yet here I am still unable to use it because I have windows 11. I tried all the obvious things and removing firewalls, mcafee etc etc. Downloaded it again about 10 times since yesterday. It will open and will play an advert for about 2 minutes and then it freezes completely.

Re: Sky Go App for Windows 11 not working properly

I have windows 11 Home 24H2. So don't have the Hyper thing. I downloaded the  oracle thing but  it did not install because I do not have something it needs, quite a few things it needs it seems. I tried unclicking and clicking on windows hyer visor programme and that did not work.

Re: Sky Go App for Windows 11 not working properly

Just to be clear, if you click on  "Windows Hypervisor Platform" in Windows Features, then re-boot does it still not work correctly (overlay not clearing)?

Re: Sky Go App for Windows 11 not working properly

Thanks. I just tried that following your post,  but it did not work.

I then uninstalled sky go after my restart and in case that worked - but  it still does not work. In fact the error message I receive is that  the version of windows I have is windows 6 ( which is not true - I have a brand new Windows 11 machine) and that I need windows 10 or later. I don't know why it is saying I have windows 6. I have tried for over 5 hours in the last few days all kinds of recommendations on here and on line and with Chat GPT so I suppose it is possible one of those things says I have windows 6 but until today I could at least open Sky go and then after about a minute of playing an advert it then froze. Today it does not even open now and just gives that windows 6 error message.

I also tried running in admin mode and that did not work just now.

Then I tried right clicking for more options and got troubleshooter on my machine and it looked for compatibility issues, came up with a different screen reslution but still had the error message of  its being windows 6

Re: Sky Go App for Windows 11 not working properly

The UI doesnm't seem to scale when ytou resize the window. The only way I have 'fixed' this is to set the window to the size I want BEFORE loading the content. i.e. startup Sky Go, set the window to full screen, then click on the content you want to watch. The UI will match the screen size.

Hope that helps

Re: Sky Go App for Windows 11 not working properly

Enabling Windows Hypervisor Platform on new Windows 11 Home PC (Intel Core i5) does not work for me.

Re: Sky Go App for Windows 11 not working properly

I have spent another hour or so on this and still cannot get it to work. I have even downloaded Oracel Virtual box but that then wants me to down load windows 10 (I have windows 11 on my PC) and looks too complicated for me to do all these steps. I pay over £80 a month for Sky, upgraded to my new windows 11 PC because Skygo ceased to work on Windows 8 and now I cannot watch it at all on my PC either. I might as well have stuck with Windows 8 computer all the good it has done me.

Re: Sky Go App for Windows 11 not working properly

Hi.

All you should need to do is download virtual box and install it. You don't need to run it or open it and it certainly shouldn't ask to install windows 10.

Re: Sky Go App for Windows 11 not working properly

It is now working. I wrote a long post yesterday but it does not seem to have posted so I am obviously incompetent even at that. I had to uninstall and then reinstall the oracle thing. Then I had to find out what I had changed on advice of this thread and advice of AI - right clicking on Sky I think it was  and undoing 3 boxes I ihad checked about running in different modes. Then it worked. So many thanks to all on this thread.

Re: Sky Go App for Windows 11 not working properly

I am a Windows 24H2 'Home' user and experienced the issues detailed many times in this thread.

I put my bravepants on and installed the Oracle VirtualBox, Note to all - you only need to do the minimal install i.e. dont enable USB, Networking or Python bits and you don't need to 'run' it

Guess what - Sky Go NOW WORKS A TREAT

As suggested earlier, the Sky Go app team have only tested their software on a VM capable device - very naughty

Re: Sky Go App for Windows 11 not working properly

I recently purchased a new PC and it comes pre-installed with Windows 11 24H2 build, after much head scratching why skygo constantly sluggish enabling Hyper-V platform did the trick for me.  Thanks!

Re: Sky Go App for Windows 11 not working properly

Sky Go Beta V 25.4.1 works OK on Win 11 Home 24H2, no need for Oracle Virtual Box or any other virtualisation settings.

Re: Sky Go App for Windows 11 not working properly

Sky Go Beta V 25.4.1 also working on Win11 24H2 on ARM.

The only extra thing required was to select SkyGo properties and go to the "Windows on ARM Change Emulation Tab" then select "Hide X64 Emulation Capability (X86 Apps Only)"

Had actually given up on SkyGo until I read Jonn0's post, Thanks
