Hi All / Sky Go Team,
I opened my Sky Go app this morning, November 2nd, 2024, and it has stopped working.
This issue appears to be the same as described in
https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Sky-Go/Sky-Go-macOS-app-does-not-open-after-latest-update/td-p/4650130
Could you please resolve this based on your previous update?
Once again, I have tried on three different Macs, and MacBook Pros do not work. I have also attempted the steps listed below without any joy.
- Uninstall the app
- Deleted Sky Go ‘SkyGoInstaller’ from the Downloads folder
- Deleted Sky Go app from the Applications folder
- Removed Sky Go files
- Deleted Sky Go folder from ~/Library/Application Support/
- Empty Recycling Bin
- Reboot the Mac
- I deleted every single file related to skyGo even the hidden files and cleanly reinstalled it.
- Restart the Mac, and reset NVRAM and PRAM
- Download and reinstall Sky Go

It is not a problem connecting, I have the same issue and online support just diverts us here.
I used the app last week or the week before, and it worked fine so already connected. As per the thread from May that was closed in the initial post, when we click the app to open it on Mac, when apps open they like 'bounce' on the dock (task bar) and then settle once opened. When I clicked it to open today, initially it opened but downloaded an update, and then closed. When clicking to open the 'new, updated' Sky Go app it is bouncing, but then disappears and we receive the message 'Sky Go app can not be opened'.
I would assume, based on the previous thread from May that this is an issue that is caused via the recent update, so developers will need to reissue a fix via another update.
As the creator of this thread, I have checked system minimum requirements, all met. Also gone through the list posted as this is the troubleshoot guide that the online bot provides, still no luck.

I've just done the latest update to Sky Go.
This is now the *only* app I have installed on my M1 Mac that needs Rosetta (ever wondered why it takes so long to load on a modern M-Series Mac? It has to load the VM environment Rosetta first - as it is *still* compiled as a legacy Intel codebase and not a universal application.
I also had the notification today for the first time that 'this application may not be supported on a future version of MacOS' which is unsurprising as Sky and their developers have had 4 Years to update the app to be ARM M-Series CPU compatible.

Exactly the same for me. And the same as last time. Skygo was working absolutely fine then opened today and it did an update and now it won't load. Same problem as earlier in the year. It took ages to fix last time. It better not this time with the amount of money everyone pays them.
Ridiculous!!

I have spent the evening reading all of the previous threads and attempted following all of the previous tips / walkthroughs but no luck. I still get the following message:
CONNECTING YOUR APPLICATION
"We're having problems connecting you. Please try again (001).
{Try Again}
Extremely frustrating when you think how much we all pay for Sky month by month.

The app is broken for MAC users again , I suggest that we ring sky and complain and ask for compensation as we are not getting what we pay for

Finally managed to get this resolved, in my case MacBook Air (2013) running Big Sur.
I completely wiped my disk and re-installed Big Sur - didnt fix it but regained lots of disk space, system data!
I enabled SIP from the recovery partition , didnt resolve the issue but noticed when I checked SIP status in Terminal after rebooting, sudo CSRUTIL status that SIP was still disabled or partially enabled/custom.
Reset NVRAM and PRAM.
This allowed me to set SIP:enabled in the recovery partition and after a reboot, it was still enabled in my mac terminal session.
Installed Sky Go Installer and now its working correctly.
Recap
RESET NVRAM & PRAM - reboot and hold down the OPTION , CMD, P, R keys - you will hear the startup sound, the screen will flash, but nothing else.
ENABLE SIP - reboot and hold down CMD & R
System Integrity Protection status: enabled.

No luck contacting them; the issue is still persistent. I guess I'll just have to wait for the next update. Meanwhile, I have moved on to the Virgin Media services / Virgin TV Go. It fits my purpose so far. I am searching for an alternative to Sky Sports that offers online services. Once I find one, I will gradually move away from Sky completely. It has been a difficult year with them.

I've managed to fix mine today!!!
I was lucky to have version 24,13-3 backed up on a usb stick.
I opened up the verison 24.2.3 (which was not working). right click, show package contents. Swaped MacOS file and frameworks files from old version.
Bingo its working! Also fixed my Dads imac also.
