Top speaker sound
Can anyone please put their ear to the top of the Sky Glass 2 speaker on one of the main channels and tell me if you are meant to hear any sort of muffled or slightly squeaky dialogue or distorted sounds (the same dialogue as you can hear through the main front speakers clearly but not as clear) and a bit nasally is the only way I can describe it. I'm trying to work out if this is just some of the sound that's naturally only coming out of the front speakers that I can hear from the top. (as the content I'm referring to is NOT Dolby Atmos) Also it's important to mention, the sound isn't audible unless I put my ear to the top speaker so I don't think it's a fault. When watching Dolby Atmos or Dolby Vision content, however and I put my ear to the top speaker, I don't hear the same sounds, so what I am assuming is that because Dolby Atmos/Vision is mastered that way, the top speaker will be as silent as possible so that it's reserved only for when it needs to kick into action, if that makes sense? Whereas if I was hearing distorted sounds from the top speaker with all content, I'd be thinking more in the way that something is wrong. Any help is appreciated with this matter, which I may be overthinking.

Re: Top speaker sound
@SquareEyes86 It's a good question - Sky haven't released any details about how their sound processing actually works. Are the top speakers only engaged when Atmos content is in play or does it use Dolby Surround (the new version of the codec, not the old 80s/90s one) or similar to derive a 'fake' height channel on non-Atmos content?
My own Denon AV receiver allows for both options at the users/viewers discretion. When watching material with 7.1/5.1/stereo or anything other than Dolby Atmos or DTS X (DTS' equivalent to Atmos), either the receiver can generate an 'unmixed. Set of height information using either Dolby Surround or DTS Neural X (again, DTS' equivalent) OR the height channels can be switched off entirely leaving the 7.1 or 5.1 to be played 'as is'.
The option doesn't look to be user configurable on Sky Glass, implying that Sky's designers have made the choice on behalf of Glass users/viewers. If you are hearing anything from the top speakers, no matter how faint, it does suggest that there is some upmixing on and the derived height information is being played back from the top speakers on your Glass TV.

Re: Top speaker sound
Did you get a resolution to this? I think i'm experiencing something similar. An almost high pitched buzz/sharpness to certain sounds, but its quite distracting - often whispers or higherpitched vocals/speech. It's only present on certain programmes, but i can't see a pattern. I'm trying to work out if its a hardware issues, or something that can be resolved through a software update

Re: Top speaker sound
@lma87 I'm leaning towards it being a hardware issue purely because there'd be a forum full of complaints if it was a software issue. I'm not hearing it on my Gen Two.
Best way to know is to ring Sky's Technical Help team and see what they say. You would be covered for any replacement under the two year warranty.
