Re: Sky glass keeps freezing

We're just trying to help. By the way I've had a Glass TV on wi-fi for 18 months and I'm having none of these issues. Has it always been like this?

Re: Sky glass keeps freezing

This is my 2nd glass, the first did it on a regular basis then the picture died, this one I've had for over a year and it was an irregular problem but not particularly annoying, over the last month it's really annoying.   If I go to network connections (checking right now) it says status "excellent WiFi connection". I've had to do a turn off at the plug today and let it reset.  It doesn't take long but it's annoying.

Re: Sky glass keeps freezing

I know what you mean. Annoying glitches in supposedly high tech product. We've had ours about two years now but two more years before it's paid for so🤞🤞🙏🙏 again.

You say the puck is fine, it's the TV causing issues. It would be interesting to see if the TV is still a problem where the puck is situated. Of course that's not practical, but you could bring the puck next to the TV, (you can use an HDMI connection on the TV), just to see if the problems now occur on the puck at that location. At least you know it may or may not be the TV but a local issue.

Re: Sky glass keeps freezing

I've had my Gen 1 since launch with no issues, last week started freezing and crashing (exactly one month from being fully paid off - surely a coincidence). This happens at least once a day and if the set doesn't restart itself has to be unplugged.

Has there been a firmware update recently? Can check the current version number online but not the release date.

Sky glass keeps freezing and nothing works

The tv constantly freezes and plays a loud recurring noise. Remote or button doesn't work and I need to take it off the mount and unplug it. It's happening around 3 times a day. This is the second tv we have had with the same issues

Re: Sky glass keeps freezing

It's not cutting my nose off to spite my face but the reason I went with glass was the fact I didn't need to use one as the router isn't near the tv and it would have to run along the floor then over 2 doorways which I didn't want otherwise I'd have stuck with Sky Q. Tbf I think my glass is faulty because every so often it scrambles and the noise is deafening. The amount of times I've had to restart the tv I've lost count. At the end of the day you don't buy a car and then expect to push it where you need to go...

Re: Sky glass keeps freezing

It does have some annoying faults. We got it because my husband is almost blind so the voice control if very useful to him as he can listen to radio and "watch" horse racing. Also getting rid of cables, boxes and dishes fitted well in our small flat. We have to switch ours on and off regularly. I have subtitles on and that's hit and miss. Sometimes it just goes a bit rogue and has to be switched off but overall it's been good for us. Some people on here have had sets they believed faulty. Maybe give Sky a call?

Re: Sky glass keeps freezing

I'm having the same issue, initially thought it was my Gen 1 TV and as I have the insurance SKY replaced it within 48 hours with a Gen 2 and lately the freezing has got worse, this evening its crashed 5 times.

I'm running with EE @45mbps and always been hardwired via Ethernet, Netflix speed test after 4th crash was 45mbps, obviously it's common issue after reading all the comments on hear, it always resets itself after 20 to 40secs as you cant do anything with the remote, don't know if the EE hardware is also contributing to it as it is not the most stable of wifi networks but I'm locked in for another year yet

Several forum members have reported recent issues with the EE standard router and sky glass.

Re: Sky glass keeps freezing

Don't think it's anything to do with your EE. We're with Sky for broadband and it's generally very good. After I first commented about the freezing we've had a period of time free from the problem... until a few weeks ago when the screen started blacking out and no amount of voice commands or using the remote made any difference. The only thing that worked was switching off at the wall for a lengthy period of time. We started switching off at the wall every night. The problem seems to have gone away at the moment 🤞but not holding my breath. The other annoying thing is losing subtitles mid programme. Not happening as much as it used to but still very annoying when it does.
