People saying weak WiFi signal don't have a clue what they are taliijg about. For the last week my sky glass keeps freezing to the point I can't even use the remote. Have to keep switching it off waiting 10 seconds and plugging it back in... my WiFi signals are 573 download and 552 upload also the multi pick is working fine.
The whole reason I got Sky glass was so you didn't have to connect to a dish, router etc... so compromising with an Ethernet cable is defeating the purpose of one of the USP's of Sky Glass..

@lisajane77 Is It compromising to use ethernet? By not trying it surely you're just cutting off your nose to spite your face?

WiFi signals are prone to interference for lots of reasons. I don't have many devices in my home that use WiFi but when I first got Glass the first week was a nightmare due to the WiFi keeping cutting out. I bought an ethernet cable and in 3.5 years since the only issue I've had has been firmware issues. No connection issues at all with my Gen One or with my Gen Two after upgrading.

It's surely got to be worth you trying?

It's also worth trying for troubleshooting reasons - if the glass does the same when using ethernet then you will know there's an issue with the set

Re: Sky glass keeps freezing

Sky eventually admitted they just have issues with these . I eventually got my 3rd new one.

Of note the guy who picked it up said " Is this sound or picture with this one ? We take back tons of these ! " .

In fairness the new one was delivered quickly and seems to be working spot on  clearly wasn't an issue terned issue.

Re: Sky glass keeps freezing

This is exactly what I was talking about the other day. I wasn't talking about a problem I had, I was talking about the problems other people will have. Streaming is unreliable. What's happening is there isn't enough space down the line to stream what you want to without these problems. It's extremely compressed as it is and it's still doing it. Is it HD, 4K or SD? The higher the resolution the more times these kind of errors will happen. If they allowed a lot more space down the line for Sky Glass you'd be able to download. You need about the same kind of space size that a 4K Blu-ray has. I've forgotten how many GB that is now. Then you'd get Dolby-HD master audio, DolbyTrueHD and Dolby Atmos and even DTS:X if what you're watching is available in that format. It should be download space instead as well so it's more like Sky Q. I posted on here somewhere the other day about this problem. In the meantime stick to Blu-rays and 4K Blu-ray discs. You can't go wrong with physical media.

Re: Sky glass keeps freezing

This is exactly what I posted about a couple of days ago. Sky Q is far better as you can download. As for loss of revenue of adverts (this was someone else) they charge for not having ads instead. Sticking to Blu-ray and 4K Blu-ray. You can't go wrong with physical media. Because it's not compressed as streaming the picture will look 10 times better and there will be far more audio formats you can choose from... better ones.

Re: Sky glass keeps freezing

Things have changed. The pic quality on Stream is arguably better than satellite, try a comparison at Currys (if your local stores has Stream). HD and SD pics are visibly sharper than their satellite equivilants. Of course you need a good fttp broadband connection, or a strong stable fttc connection, (anything below 25mbps will simply not cut it). UHD with HDR, (though maybe not as good as blu ray), look visually stunning on a large screen. The old days of dodgy streaming have long gone.
