My friend has the £1500 oddessy ark Samsung Mini LED monitor thta has over 1500 local dimming zones. Its blacks are worse than my Samsung QLED that only has 200 or something and the monitor has a similar samsung image processor. I would love for someone to explain that.
I got him to buy bias lighting and it really helped. I dont trust Mini LED tech it seems to not have as good blacks as they claim. QLED and OLED are the best.

I'm surprised at that: I thought they were extinct (replaced by much better technology)

There was a bad firmware update releaed for the Ark in 2022 that messed the colours up in game mode. They have released an updated firmware in 2023 but i havent seen anything baout that improving the blacks. Unfortunately you could have 10000 dimming ones if teh firmware is duff and doesnt activate teh dimming zones correctly tehre is nothing you can do about it. It doesnt help Samsung seem to of forgotten the Ark. I am assuming it is properly calibrated also.

Another thing i dont get about Sky glass 2. The more I think about it, the more i think Sky should have used a WOLED (Normal NON MLR OLEDS) The cheaper ones.
You can get a 55inch normal OLED for less than £1000 65inch for around £1400 maybe less tbh. They have peak brightness a lot lower than any QLED but their still an OLED with all the amazing colour and accuracy that comes with a OLED screen. I dont think it should have raised price over a QLED that much.
Most but not all OLEDS now are these newer MLR OLEDS that cost way more and can do double the brightness or more of a normal OLED, among some other upgrades but its their brightness and handeling of contrast ratio better at high brightness they have improved on.
Sky glass 2 could have easily in my view been made a standard OLED and there still great!!
