Turning off Sky 2 step verification

Hello

Does anyone know how to turn off the Sky 2 step verification. I only set it up on my computer because in the last week my ipad can't get into Sky mail. But it didn't work so I want to turn it off. I have chronic health issues and the mobile signal in my bedroom where I live isn't great. My mobile has to stay at the end of the room where the signal is best. So I either need to get up to look at the message or wait for it to come. I looked in settings and under security it just mentions blocked email addresses. Do I need to contact Sky? I'd be very grateful for any help. Thank you.

Lorraine

Re: Two Step Varification Code

Simply sign in using your Sky Email recovery code (NOT the verification code sent to your phone), and it tells you that the 2 step process has been cancelled and, should you wish, you can set it up again later.

Cancelling two step verification for access to my e-mail account.

For the last few days I have had the 2 step verification applied to access my e-mails. This is an absolute nuisance -  I didn't realise that I would always have to have my mobile phone handy, no matter which device I use to access the e-mails ie PC or IPad.

How can I go back to just being able to log in with my username and password ?

Hello

I don't need any help anymore. I thought I would use my recovery code to log in as that's always the same and I wouldn't have to move or stand up to get it. It then said because you've used your recovery code you've turned off 2 step verification and will need to set it up again. Made my day.

Thank you Timbuktu ! Just to reiterate, signing in with the Sky email recovery code (NOT the verification code sent to your phone) means the 2 step process is cancelled.

I have a similar problem.

I turned on 2-step verification, and I want to turn it off again.

I was given a recovery code, but if I try to sign in with it as the user name, it says it's not recognised.

If I look at the Security settings on Yahoo, it's still telling me to enable 2-step verification, even though it's already on. If I click on the link to turn it on, nothing happens.
The URL the link is pointing to must be one of the longest I've ever seen by the way, hundreds of characters!

I'm assuming I'm doing the right thing by using the recovery code as the user name?

Thanks, Dave.

@Timbuktoo123 @neil-45

Thanks, I had been wondering how to turn the damn thing off.

The implementation Sky are using is not how I believe it's supposed to work.

If you are signing in on a trusted device you shouldn't need the two-step verification code, only when signing in on a unrecognised device should it be needed.

I wonder how many people will be able to remember/be able to find their recovery code even a few weeks or possibly years down the line?

No, when asked for the two-step verification code, use the option that you don't have it and you will be asked for the recovery code. (hopefully you will still have it)

D'oh!

Of course, thank you, I will try that.

🙂

EDIT: Yes, that worked fine! 👍

I thought if it was turned off it might help with my failure to log in with the Windows 10 Mail app (see my thread about it) but no difference. ☹️

Re: Turning off Sky 2 step verification

Having same problems as above, having to verify everytime i want to log in to the mailbox on the web to check the spam folder and it's becoming a royal PITA.

Have been with Sky since 2012 before Yahoo provided mail, where would i have received this "recovery code"??

It was displayed on screen (you had to acknowledge receipt before setting up 2FA) and is sent to your email address.

Re: Turning off Sky 2 step verification

I can't find anything, i'm blaming it on age, guess i'm stuck with 2FA then 😞
