You need a phone line connected to your sky box

I was reading through some of the comment by various people regarding Sky boxes not requiring a telephone landline connection, I have one on my sky box and when I remove the phone connection from it I get no internet.

@Dave245  Depends what type of box you have some only have modems which requires a telephone line connection for internet connection others have both a modem and wireless capability which connects over WiFi

@Dave245

If you are removing an ethernet cable (either to an internet router or a 'mini wireless connector') then that might well disconnect the box.

The dial-up modem connection over a phone pair into the rear of some elderly Sky+ / Sky+ HD boxes hasn't functioned for years, and never carried on-demand content as it's orders of magnitude too slow for that.
