Hi, im in Ireland and my broadband has been delayed twice. I know how fibre broadband works, ive been with sky 15+ years and i worked in virgin so i know how the fibre is brought to your home roughly. Obviously its the same lines no matter the network and not much sky can do about it. I was in an apartment and had sky glass working off the old line rental sky BB and it was brilliant Skg glass, iPads and 4 phones all working never a problem. I moved into a house 5 weeks ago and Sky had to delay the appointment because Actavo who text me about a blockage needed to be cleared. That seems to be completed and not its with ESB i think another 3rd party, i didnt think ESB was needed but my neighbour who was 5 weeks waiting before i moved in said the same happened her. Im just wondering can i check the status somehow with ESB. Sky i know cant do anything and in fairness have given me discounts and added kids channels for free etc. but me and the wife are going crazy now with 3 kids no broadband. Any reply be appreciated

SIRO fibre run fibre alongside the electrical supply cables as explained here which sounds to be why the power company are invoved.

Perfect that's what I think is happening and I'm guessing now because off this my house won't be the best for speed but I'm sure I can purchase a booster or do Sky have them. It is an old house that has been fully renovated so the walls and structure are proper concrete build not like the homes that get built so fast these days with plasterboard etc. it's fully new insulation too so I'm guessing a booster is no harm

Sky sell a bundleccalled WiFi Max which can come with up to 3 extenders in the UK but I am not sure Sky Ireland offer that as yet. The standard Sky boosters are pretty meh to be honest.
Buying your own whole home mesh system like TP-Link's Deco range or Netgear's Orbii range both of which can be configured to work as access points are popular choices.

Thank you. Would you have a link to one off those systems for a shop in Ireland?

I had never heard off this to be honest never needed it before anywhere I lived. I was lookin them up on Amazon and they range from 120- 500. Is it worth paying this money ? Does it turn your WiFi to no hassle at all I've 3 kids a 65 inch, a 50 inch and 32inch with mini boxes and 4 iPhones , one iPad and in my previous apartment I had line rental Sky broadband was only available, I was getting about 70 from it and I actually had Sky glass with multi rooms and the phones and iPad and we never had a problem. Was maybe a better area and obviously an apartment so smaller and walls were like paper

I feel your pain. I contacted Sky last February to cancel my existing 500mb broadband. I told them I was signing up with Virgin deal on 1G Fibre Broadband.
The Sky Advisor begged me not to move to Virgin and advised me to sign up for their 1G super fast broadband instead. After much badgering from the Sky Advisor I finally relented and agreed to the offer. I was informed the installation of my fibre broadband would being during the first week in March.
Here I am almost 8 months later still waiting for the broadband to be installed. Two or three engineers visited early on and concluded there is a blockage on the existing line and they would have to call the civil engineers to rectify the issue. I keep being fobbed off by Sky, telling me they sub-contract the civil work to another company and it's beyond their control, etc.. They also say that before the work can be carried out the civil engineering company will require a licence from the local authority.
I just think it's very convenient for Sky to pin the blame for the delay on another company. Also, I firmly believe that if I was a new customer I would have had my broadband installed months ago, it's just easy for them to put me on the long finger when I am still paying them €100 every month. I am just disgusted by the whole experience.
