Re: WiFi dropping every few minute

This is since I've received the "new" hub

I Had the same issue as koi in regards to speeds showing ok speed with previous hub but had absolutely horrendous speeds coming to my devices

Re: WiFi dropping every few minute

@DBH @ModernFugu @KoiMan if I have followed the thread accurately, one of the things I would suggest is to see if a third party device works properly on your line, e.g by doing the following:

  1. connect another router to the Sky hub in Access Point mode. Turn the WiFi signal OFF on the Sky hub. On the other router ensure it has the same name and password. Any old router should be able to do this when connected from a LAN port of the Sky hub to the WAN port of your third party device. If signal is stable from the third party device, then likely the problem is with the Sky hub.
  2. Remove the Sky hub altogether and use third party equipment directly connected to the ONT.

I've not used an ISP supplied router for years, and indeed 1 of my 2 ISPs (Aquiss) does not supply any equipment. The other ISP (Digi) supplied a TP Link router, which I have put into storage for when I need to return it or if there is a line issue and they need it to be connected.

If you don't have another router, they can be purchased cheaply from eBay. I have bought a second hand  Zyxel VMG3925 router which is useful for diagnosing faults. I've since amassed a couple of other second hand routers from eBay.

2 x FTTP lines: Digi £15 pm 900/900 & Aquiss £36pm 80/20

65" Samsung S92C OLED TV

@Blah-blah-blah speeds to the hub are as they should be so although you both may have the same issue with wifi dropping out, your speeds to the hub are obviously indicating a problem with the connection to the hub. FTTP usually gives you a consistent speed from the off, the maximum isn't guaranteed as that's subject to congestion but that's not good. Is this through Openreach or CityFibre?

Either way, you're going to have to contact them and quote the speeds to the hub before worrying about wifi performance.

I don't have permission to upload photos yet.

But it says.

Your Sky Broadband looks like it has a problem.

92.8 mb/s to your hub.

Nothing for Thu 7/8 - 8/8. Previous hub.

Same speed on 9/8, 10/8 & 12/8  92.8mb/s.

Re: WiFi dropping every few minute

My Sky just informs me that it can't see the data from my system as a prelude to a bout of cut outs

You're on 500Mbps I think? You need to be quoting those figures to Sky when you next chat with them, I'd consider the weedy wifi as a separate issue although that low a speed to the hub won't help.

Re: WiFi dropping every few minute

Well another evening of sky tv cutting out because of the **bleep** poor internet. You can see there's an issue on the sky network connection flicking from excellent to no network !

I've reset both the puck and the router and nothing is working. Laptop also failing to connect as well.

Think something needs doing as it's clearly not improving, think another phone call is in order so at least it's documented !!
