Unable to connect to work vpn
Hello,
Since changing over to Sky Broadband, i am unable to connect to my work VPN, which is essential for me to do my job.
I have looked through other discussions, but can't seem to find a solution. I have tried switching off the broadband shield to no avail.
I am able to connect to the work VPN when tethering to my work mobile and personal mobile, which are EE and vodafone respectively. and i have also connected at a relative house when connecting to Virgin Media,. My IT department have also accessed my laptop, and even sent me a new machine, but this still hasn't solved the problem. Looking through the community boards it also seems i am not the onl one with this problem

Re: Unable to connect to work vpn
Sky employs a system called MAP-T to distribute IPv4 addresses among users. This might be the reason why the VPN is failing. Typically, Sky uses an 8-to-1 MAP-T ratio, but they can adjust it to a 1-to-1 ratio, which could potentially resolve the issue. If you’re fortunate, a superuser will see this post and escalate it to Sky!

Re: Unable to connect to work vpn
I have the same issue. Moved to Sky from BT last week and my works VPN is not working. Same laptop, VPN software, place of work.
Tried: disabling Broadband Shield, disabling IPv6, enabling UPnP (MAP-T is now 1:1) and still doesn't work.
I work from home full time. If I knew Sky had VPN issues I'd never have switched to them. I made the assumption that it's 2024, and we've been through COVID and any issues relating to working from home would have been resolved. Seems not.
To add to that the range of the Sky Max Hub is worse than my old BT Home hub. The signal in bedrooms upstairs is worse than before. And there's me thinking I was upgrading.

Re: Unable to connect to work vpn
can't wait for my contract period to end so i can get away from this. Impossible to work from home because of sky's crap configuration and impossible to adjust it myself.
I assume my own router won't solve this issue as its server side?

Map-T requires the Sky Max Hub to be in place at the subscription address, so using non-Sky hardware should remove it from the circuit.
Be aware that some router brands don't work with Sky Broadband. Only a Sky Max Hub or Sky Broadband Hub supports Sky Talk Internet Calls.

Re: Unable to connect to work vpn
is there a way to just get this rubbish turned off so my internet connection works as it should? i didn't have to buy my own router to connect to a vpn when i was with BT for example...so it sounds like sky fibre isn't fit for purpose...

Re: Unable to connect to work vpn
@letmereadthepost you dont need buy a third party router now - try reading the post pinned to the top of the forum and follow the. instructions there.
However most third party routers will work perfectly well but avoid Ubquiti kit as that has been problematic due to a silly error in their firmware which has been there for at least 8 years but may now be sorted. Asus kit is usually a safe choice.

Re: Unable to connect to work vpn
Thank you for the pinned link. Got here via google so hadn't seen the pinned post. I've now requested sky to modify my settings so hopefully that fixes it for the time being!
