Switching to Fibre Sky Q Hub question

I have a BT engineer due to switch us from copper to Fibre next week (arranged by Sky).  The Sky website says we don't need a new router, we have the Sky Q one with 3 lights (no voice light and no socket on the back for a direct phone connection).  We have Sky Talk but how do we physically connect the phone to the router?  Currently it connects via the adapter that came with the Sky Q hub and that adapter plugs into the BT socket.  When the switch to fibre happens I expect the existing BT socket to be obsolete.

What speed where you told you'd get?

One reason why sky/openreach will not provision internet calls would be if you have a telecare line provisioned by the old copper line

Re: Switching to Fibre Sky Q Hub question

No idea on speed, but Sky weren't able to continue hitting my agreed contract speed whilst still on Copper.  I understand about care lines we don't have one of those I just need to understand how if we don't need a new router, how the phone is physically going to be connected to get calls via the internet.

For FTTP the Q Hub will need replacing by a Sky Broadband Hub or Max Hub.

The ER115 Q model is actually compatible with FTTP itself (although this is undocumented) but cannot support Sky Talk Internet Calls as it doesn't contain an Analogue Telephone Adapter (ATA) which is why it doesn't have a handset socket.

The only products avallable are fttc vdsl however thats marked exception to getting a sogea line (internet calls) and full fibre fttp which needs internet calls

Could you check "my account" on your my sky app to see what your are getting

The exception on vdsl sogea may indicate sky/openreach cannot supply you with internet calls for other reasons unknown.  In which case i assume you will retain pstn line thru your mastersocket

Notice the exception in sogea i assume applies to fttp

'FTTP is available' and being an FTTP priority area should override that.  The exception would be for very unusual circumstances.

Hi both, thanks for your help, not too clear on the APP what I'm getting, it just says Superfast Broadband activation.  There is mention of a Sky hub, but no dispatch date yet.  Then on another page it mentions that I may not need a hub, I wish they would just give me a strainght answer.

If they are dispatching a hub, the FAQ say dispatch 3 to 5 days before installation so I hope I see a dispatch date this week.
