Sky reckons my speed is 151mbs but I've tested it and it's 70.
Its not supposed too drop below 100.
what could cause this?

Re: Speed
The minimum speed guarantee is from the internet to the ISP router, not from the router to a client device (and particularly not a wireless one)
BT Halo 3+ Ultrafast FTTP (500Mbs), BT Smart Hub 2

Re: Speed
The firestick is hard wired,so the speed shouldn't drop by 80 ?or is that what happens?

Re: Speed
Firesticks don't require than 30Mbps so its likely that the ethernet adapter is only fast 100Mbps

Re: Speed
So how do I check my speed then?
sky are suggesting I'm at 150 whereas any tests I'm conducting don't give me anything like that.

Re: Speed
At the least you're losing 50Mbps due to the ethernet adapter plus 5-10% of that speed due to the ethernet cable itself
What hub do you have? You could run a speed test using wifi using the 5ghz wifi band which would not be limited to 100Mbps it should give you a reading of 10% less than your 150Mbps

Re: Speed
@Mattgodwin
Due to the chipset the firestick's ethernet speed is limited to 100mbps so you wont get any higher than that anyway.
If you want to test your speeds coming in you need to a use a PC/Laptop/Mac with Gigabit ethernet capabilities.

We don't know until you run a test on another ethernet connected device. It will tell you whether the issue is with the line/router or device. A firestick is a cheap bit of kit it may not always run at full network speeds.

Re: Speed
I'm getting 124 on the laptop which is hard wired.
which is above the allotted amount?
so it would appear that everything is ok even though it's slow.

Re: Speed
Yes looks like your getting the right speed then, like I said firesticks are cheap bits of kit so network speeds vary on them constantly.
