Speed upgrade not quicker

Hi

Recently moved up to superfast broadband where I'm told it's 62 mb/s as it is now fibre to the cabinet I can get.

My previous speed was 32 mb/s however as of Friday when it was meant to have changed speeds I've been getting the same speed as previously (32 mb/s).

I've rebooted my router but still getting same speeds.

Does it take a,number of days to get going or should it be instantaneous?

Thanks

Re: Speed upgrade not quicker

Try log onto the router page and check this.

32Mbs and 62Mbs are both "Fibre to cabinet"  (FTTC). They come in 40/10 for lower and 80/20 upper tariff and based on distance from exchange.

I was on Talktalk 40/10 for few years and upgraded to 80/20. My speed never improved...after some complain, a Openreach engineer came round and stated my property is capped at 40/10 regardless what upgrade the ISP sells. Hopefully yours is not capped 🤗

The fastest possible speed for copper to the exchange adsl is 24Mbps decreasing by distance from the exchange.  The fastest part fibre fttc is 80 Mbps decreasing by distance from the cabinet

Could you enter your full address in the link below and post the table after removing you address from the image

Advertising standards still allow isp to quote the national average speed for people with the same connection type. Hoeever if this is still dlm training the link should get a better idea of what speed they will get

Realistically due to the fact that the hub is optimising the speed you should get 40 mbps per the vdsl rows

Re: Speed upgrade not quicker

@AlbaZeus Those line stats were similar to mine so you will never really see anything above 35Mbs. You may get 40Mbs if you live next door to the exchange 😊

Are you not able to get FTTP now. They are just as cheap as FTTC  now.  Thesedays 150Mbs FTTP is selling about £24 with Sky, Vodafone and Plusnet.
