Six month delay on promised install date!

Signed up with Sky prior to moving on the basis that we would have TV and Broadband. Broadband was to be installed on 4th May 2022. Last week we got a message saying it was delayed unitl October 2022!

What is the best way to get Sky to speed up an installation? What are the best contacts to use for complaining? The usual channels just get the response that it is the fault of Openreach but it is not possible to talk to them directly.

Sky are not the USO provider (that's BT, and KCOM in Hull) so they have no more leverage over Openreach than anyone else.  Have you been given a reason for the delay?  One would think that kind of timescale results from fairly unusual circumstances.

Re: Six month delay on promised install date!

I entered my address and it did not seem to do anything. It says the only required info is the postcode so I tried only this and it did not work either.

If you enter postcode and street plus the robot code it will usually show a list of addresses. Postcode is usually mandatory but the more info the better. This is a bt wholesale site so gets it feed direct from openreach. The notes at the bottom will state how the fibre is bought to the house plus notes documenting any issues

As that usually requires a brand new bearer cable, depending on the location it can be a prolonged project. Do you know where the nearest fibre currently is, and if it's supposed to arrive via pole or duct?

Edit: ah, 'OH Feed', so from a pole.

Overhead feed no known issues. Wouldn't even know what the delay is

Overloading on an existing pole is one possibility: that wouldn't necessarily be reflected in the BT Wholesale record.

Everything else including private permissions wayleave are listed from memory ie if oh cable passes over someones property..  Planning permission usually 4 weeks so does sound like CBT or pole

The code list is lower down on this page, but I don't see one for a congested pole.
