I have just signed up for Fibre and SKY MAX hub as I am moving from BT to SKY for my Broadband, and I need to know how to set up Port Forwarding for my CCTV system.
Is there any guideance on SKY on the steps to ensure I can this up correctly?
Thanks.

Many thanks, my sky hub will be installed soon and it sounds straightforward to set up port forwarding.

I now have Sky fibre and Sky Max hub, however cannot get Port Forwarding to work.
I have used the Sky app and set up rule for the port and protocol, have added rule to windows defender to allow port forward through the port, but when I try to see if port is open from outside it is still closed.
does anybody have suggestions to my next steps or have I missed anything?

What is the port for? Is the service running on your PC?
A port checker will show the port as CLOSED if there isnt an active service accepting connections, even if its open on your router

hi @jamesn123 the port needs to be open all the time for my CCTV system, it runs 24/7
It worked a month ago with BT Broadband but I cannot get Port Forwarding to work now I have Sky Fibre 150 and the Max hub
I have tried to raise it with Sky support but they ask me 'what is Port Forwarding', then I know they wont have an answer for me, last guy told me he has esculated it for me, so hopefully one day I might have it working 🙂

@jamesn123 tried this before but Sky block anything with IP, MAC addresses etc, but here goes:-
Sky hub has no facility to add Port Forwarding as it states the Sky app is used for this
In the Sky app rule has been applied to my BI Server as It is called:-
And I have an Inbound rule set up on my CCTV system to allow this port:-

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreHave you confirmed its only TCP your server needs and not UDP as well? The Windows firewall looks to be configured for TCP only.
I take it you've tried testing the CCTV system outside the network even though a checker is showing closed?

@jamesn123 tried TCP and TCP/UDP both failed.
Also tried conencting via the External network, could not connect.
The system itself also has an auto set up using UPnP which I have enabled, the system failed to set up Port Forwarding via UPnP with the Sky hub, but was first time when I had BT Broadband

I have the same problem. I need to open ports 80, 8000 and 443.
port forwarding config options on the sky app is rubbish.

@thrusercat I have proved that the Port Forwarding does not work via the app, using Telnet you can test to see if a port is open on the router and the setup that Sky have via the app does NOT open the port we specify.
I have spent hours and days talking to Sky support and eventually they have sent me a replacement max hub, installed today and still dont open the port I wanted, probably will cancel my Sky contract on Monday if they cannot provide solution and go somewhere else for broadband.
It works on the earlier hub, the black one as my son has proved it works to me, this new white Sky max hub is rubbish

@thrusercat @jamesn123 @Chrisee
I Have found the solution to my problems with Port Forwarding, or should I say the Sky app/Sky max router issue!
I wrote in another discussion that I was having trouble with the router web access and it kept showing the wrong IP for my machine I wanted to Port Forward, it kept showing the last part as 0.2, although the machine IP was in fact 0.10, I tried to resolve this by changing the IP to 0.15, all Protected IP (or Static IP), but Port Forward control in the app only showed textual devices in the drop down box, I dont know where the text in this box comes from as its not text I have defined, however I selected the device that closely matched the one I wanted, which in the end proved to be the right one (but otherdevices in the drop down I still cannot identify?).
In the router web access page most of my machines show only as their MAC address so not easy to find what I am looking for by IP or name..
I spent many hours trying to get somebody in Sky to help me out and eventually they said I must have faulty Sky Max and sent me replacement, installed OK and Prot Forward still didnt work, although very strangely some of the settings I had applied to previous router were still showing in this replacement, so SKy must upload some settings and store them, including this wrong IP:(
Anyway I kept going back and forth to the router web page and saw that from time to time the IP was being shown ending in 0.2 and next time it was 0.15 - very confusing as SKy dont seem to be able to store tha actual address of my equipment.... so I thought if Sky thinks my machine ends in 0.2 then I would change it to this, and WOW it worked and now I have Port Forwarding working....
What a long winded story but I hope it helps others, check what the router MAC address is displaying as the IP and change the machine to same - I know SKy router should be adjusting the IP to reflect the actual IP - BUT IT IS NOT
Wish I could explain this to a technical Sky person, but I cannot find any

Sounds as though that you and I are having exactly the same issue. I don't understand why you are unable to port forward to a specific IP address or MAC address, I have several devices which have the same Hikvision name. Within the My sky app I'm unable to rename the device that matches the IP address, all I receive is an error if trying to do so. Port forwarding from the sky Max router or shall I say my sky app is a guessing game.
My BT router used to work fine. the issue that I'm having is that I'm now unable to open my security gates or use the keypad to open the security gates from my mobile phone. God forbid if I didn't have the key fob on me, I'd be trapped.
after speaking to a sky engineer today, I was advised that the sky max router should only be issued to residents that have greater than 700mbs fibre.
I have an engineer appointment booked this coming Tuesday to install a legacy router which apparently has more functionality.
Failing this, I will look towards buying a third-party router, UniFi dream machine probably.

You got signal is the a method to check ports are open. However, although my required ports were open there is no guarantee they were being sent to the correct port forwarded device.
