I don't think it's safe to assume that at all: there's no statutory provision for that which I'm aware of, and probably a whole heap of technical obstacles.

The last altnet I heard of going to the wall left all it's customers hanging. No other company took over their network. I can't remember which one it was now because it was a few years ago.

Well I hope our local does not. They seem to have grown and covered most of London 😞

@Sayek Think you are safe but almost certainly there will be consolidation of the many Altnet providers especially as Openreach carry on their roll-out. Competition is going to be pretty fierce which should be good for the consumer.
