Just ordered full fibre 150 with no extras but I noticed that the order update says sky max hub awaiting dispatch. As far as I can tell, I never chose the upgrade but I can't find a detailed order receipt to check if I did. Or is this a generic statement and I will still get the standard hub

The Max Hub is the standard hardware model for new Sky Broadband subscribers. It's the WiFi Max service (booster 'pod' loan, Parental Controls and 'enhanced security') that has the additional monthly cost.
