Hi.
I am looking to upgrade our current "Full Fibre 150 and Sky Booster" arrangement due to current deals coming to an end. The last few days we have had issues with the sky booster box not connecting to the main hub even though we have checked the internet service through the sky app and it states no issues on your network.
We have a very busy household between multiple gaming consoles and connections to the hub via phones, tablets, etc. I thought that the sky booster box would overcome the previous slow connections, however we can encounter a lagging connection when playing each other between consoles on the same network, which I will never understand.
The hub and fibre incoming box to our property is in the cloak cupboard below the stairs which sits central to the property but we struggle for connection in some areas of the house, which was why I decided to get a sky booster box.
Any recommendations would be greatly welcomed? Many thanks.

If the fibre connection into the house is located in that cupboard, is it then straight onto cat5e or higher cable from the fibre termination box to the hub? I thought it was a fibre into the hub that I had no way of extending but if its an ethernet cable I could purchase a long cable and relocate the box to my hallway.
Unfortunately the engineer doesn't understand WiFi signals and enclosed spaces will certainly affect signals. The fibre part of the connection ends when it goes from outside into the internal Openreach ONT box. From this box its a standard Ethernet cable of any length (>cat5e) into the Sky Hub. For instance in my case the ont is in my bedroom at the front of my house and I have a 22m cat 6 cable through my house to the sky hub in the living room at the back where most of devices are situated (meaning they can be connected by Ethernet to provide a very stable, fast connection)

Having the hub tucked away in a cupboard will most probably be affecting the WiFi signal around your house. If possible use a cat5e or higher Ethernet cable and move your hub out in the open then place booster halfway between hub and area you need WiFi, which should hopefully improve signal.

Probably the difference between a console connected to the Hub vs another through the booster: the relay inevitably adds a delay.

Thanks @TimmyBGood for your reply. Both consoles used to work through the single hub (located halfway between both of them), and we still had the lagging issues. I only introduced the sky booster box to try and rectify this, however it hasn't had any affect on the performance of the signal unfortunately. Is there any other wifi boosters or extenders youi can recommend that won't cost me money every month and actually work? Thanks in advance

I have no regrets in going down the DIY route and installing my own mesh network in my home, currently using 3 x Asus XT9s.
My hub is hidden away on the floor behind a shoe rack with the wifi OFF. My partner likes this arrangment as the on show XT9 matches the decor in the hallway better than the hub.
The first XT9 is connected via an ethernet cable and an XT9 is on each of the 2 floors above utilising wireless backhaul. Works brilliantly, but not cheap and I don't have a Sky phone or Q, just Stream.
Of course cheaper (and indeed more expensive) mesh systems are out there if it is something you might consider exploring.

Thanks for your response. This is great to know and I will look to update the location of the hub. Much apprecaited.
