Just a power outage... seems a bit weird that there was a power outage yet no news to inform people... seems like something more was going on to me. Worst customer service ever though, Sky have never been great.
Do we know how much they are compensating us for this loss of service? Cuz im not paying for full services when ive been prevented from utilising them. Somebody in my house works nights and has been unable to this night.

There is an outage in the area apparently. I don't know how big the area is but I've seen posts from miles away. This is the second time in two weeks now. Not very good when you

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Tabbz Ofcoms mandated Auto compensation only applies if a fault is outstanding 2 working days after being reported, there is no obligation for ISPs to pay compensation for an outage lasting a few hours.
You would need to speak to Sky to discuss this, but as noted they aren't obliged to offer anything.
In addition no ISP can give you 100% guaranteed uptime.
If you need 100% uptime then you need to find a provider who gives 4G backup as part of their offering, usually at a higher cost, or buy your own 4G dongle.
Edit: I would also refer to @cookiemonsteruk post regarding Sky's T & C's

Isn't there a clause of beyond reasonable control, force majeure, act of god that would exempt isp's from paying compensation

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@cookiemonsteruk I'd be surprised if there wasn't as most network operators would have this as part of their terms with their customers (ISPs), for example National Grid and booking meter jobs with the customers Energy Supplier would be suspended during such situations which meant missed appointments wouldn't be compensated.

Yep , taken from sky's t&c's
Force Majeure Event: means an event that is outside of the relevant party’s reasonable control including but not limited to: a pandemic, epidemic, lightning, flooding, exceptionally severe weather, fire, explosion, severe computer virus, war, terrorism, civil disorder, industrial disputes, acts of third parties not affiliated to the relevant party, acts of local or central Government or other competent authority (including the regulator) which prevent the relevant from performing its obligations (including any legislation requiring licensing of the presently unregulated spectrum used by elements of the Services);

I have not had an outage but for the last 20 hours my internet speeds have dropped to 1/6mbps instead of normal 20 ... I feel it may be because the outage but unsure if it will be looked at as partial outage seen as i'm not in area of full internet outage?

Another thing to add is that Sky Broadband is a domestic service and no compensation would be applied for loss of earnings etc anyway.

WiFi seems to be back here in Matson Gloucester. Although my sky app is still saying "Your WiFi looks like it has a problem" and then "outage in your area"... doesn't fill me with much trust!
