@Charlie+Clown being on legacy packages is expensive. Move to the superfast option as virtually identical.

Should be something along the lines of minimum guaranteed speed (if applicable) once you click more about your connection. If theres no mention of minimum guaranteed speed then you will benefit from cheaper price and peace of mind that should you get a line fault sky will have to investigate it when you migrate to superfast

Re: What is better - Fibre Max, Superfast or Ultrafast?

Normally available download speed 68 - 81 Mb/s - the Sky speed test shows I'm getting 53 and the Ookla app shows 34. Presumably I've got nothing to lose by switching to Superfast then?

Not so much nothing to lose more  everything to gain.

Looking at your speed it does look slow. Can you post your router stats as shown below

Noise margin ds should never be higher than noise margin us  in fact yours could be as low as 3db.  This indicates that you should be in the 68-80 Mbps range and if you were on superfast you would possibly be close to or below a minimum guaranteed download speed.  Going to superfast is a no brainer. 👍

Just thinking, if you enter your full postal address in the database below and post the full table we can estimate a minimum guaranteed speed

I must say, I'm finding all this stuff fascinating even though I haven't got a clue about most of it! I didn't know these various resources existed so thanks for highlighting them and taking the time to respond. Table should be below, once moderated:

Indeed, we increasing use the bt wholesale checker to advise forum posters as it is updated by openreach for every phone number that used to be a bt landline. The address checker is just as accurate

Your minimum guarantee would be between 48 and 55Mbps.  Fttc says waiting list but as you are on fibre max i assume they'll still use your current slot in the cabinet. The advice is book superfast and ask what your minimum guaranteed speed will be.

@Charlie+Clown sorry to dampen your enthusiasm I would not switch to Superfast on a cabinet with a wairting list as there is a risk you will lose your connection to someone ahead of you in the waiting list its happened before. The switch is treated as a discontinuation and new order by the system.

I would talk to Sky about your lines performance as it looks marginal ro see if they can get Openreach to check it out.
