What is better - Fibre Max, Superfast or Ultrafast?

We want to upgrade our broadband as it is quite slow, and we have literally dozens of devices now using our home broadband. We have a couple of boosters (white boxes), one on the top floor, and one on the ground, with our main router on the middle floor.

When I go to the upgrade page, it says our current package is Fibre Max, and then offers me Superfast and Ultrafast. Obviously Ultrafast must be the best, but is this different to what I have, and is Superfast also different, or the same as Fibre Max?!

Sorry, but I do find this all very confusing - it is a shame there isn't some form of table on the Sky website explaining it all simply, including speeds, availability, etc.

If you are on Fibre Max you must be paying well over the odds for your broadband because line rental will be charged separately where as it's included in the price on the current packages.

There are two types of Ultrafast, one is G.Fast which is delivered over the existing copper with a max speed of 330 Mbps and FTTP which is delivered via fibre direct to your home with a max speed of 1 Gbps.

Sky only offers 145 Mbps on G.Fast and FTTP at the moment but rumour has it that they may start offering 500 Mbps on FTTP later on this year.

Thanks for the advise so far. This is a screen grab of the results of the test - do you know what this means? Also a little concerned to hear that we maybe paying over the odds. We are indeed paying for seperate line rental and then broadband on top. Is this not right, and if so, should Sky have advised us of this? We have been with Sky for many years, and are now classed as diamond VIPs, apparently!

What speeds are you getting? Superfast vdsl up 80Mbps. But you should be getting close to that at the minute. What hub do you have ? Can you post you router stats and finally theres no ultrafast in your area

Thanks again for your help! The router is an ER110. Not sure what speeds we are getting - the Google speed test says 32mbps download and 15.3 upload. Is that OK? Also, should we not be paying extra for line rental do you know?

If you can convince sky to migrate you sideways to superfast then you will just pay for the broadband plus the choice to go for a pay as you talk phone package.  But it would be interesting to see your router stats

I have a similar question. I'm out of contract on Sky Fibre Max and have been sent two options:

Stay with Fibre Max, 63mbs average download speed, unlimited downloads plus Sky Talk Line Rental and Sky Talk Anytime Extra for £61:99 per month.

or switch to:

Superfast, 63mbs download speed, unlimited downloads, includes Sky Talk Line Rental plus Sky Talk Anytime Extra for £40 per month.

Obviously the cheaper option appeals but is there any real difference between the two in terms of speeds and download limits? I can't find anything accessible on the Sky site that compares the two as the page I select always say there's a technical issue their end but it's been like that for days. I need totally unlimited downloads because of work files so that is a must but is Superfast really unlimited?

Any help appreciated.

The main difference will be minimum guaranteed download applies to superfast but generally not to legacy products such as fibre max

To see if guarantee applies to fibre max on my sky app run tests and post the section from more about your connection
