Re: Stream remote completely unresponsive

Yeah it's just Sky Go, but at least it's something

Surely longer term they've got to be looking at a fully loaded Netflix style app so there's no need for boxes at all.

@IMT I think that's what everybody wishes for, but doubt it'll ever happen.

Re: Stream remote completely unresponsive

I've had Sky Stream for nearly a month now and apart from having to factory reset each Puck to get subtitles ( no big deal) I've had very few issues.........except, all 3 remotes have now packed in,absolutely dead, nothing, changed the batteries ,still nothing, rang Sky yesterday and for the very first time a Customer Service Rep admitted there is a major issue with the remotes, even if they send out new ones there is no guarantee they would work so I have gone back to my old Sky Q setup, many thanks to Retentions for offering me such a good deal, I will go back to Sky Stream but only when the issue with the remotes have been sorted (no time frame has been given)

Back to Sky Q and 2 mini boxes after a failed attempt at Sky Stream (again) , VM 1 gb Broadband and Google Nest WiFi Pro.

Just to pop the same message in this thread too...

Hi there,

As you know, our support teams are aware that there are some reports of the Sky Glass/Stream remote periodically becoming unresponsive (with no backlight). In most cases, the issue will resolve itself after a period of time.

At the time of typing, there isn't a workaround, but the right teams are investigating.

We're sorry for any inconvenience.

Note: I'm marking this post as the answer to make it easier to find, this issue is not yet resolved.

Mark, This issue has been ongoing since at least early October, the "inconvenience" it causes is that you can't watch anything without being able to use the remote.

Re: Stream remote completely unresponsive

Sky are just lucky so many of us have other remotes we can use. Otherwise it would be causing a lot more drama!

Re: The sky stream remote is not working

Hi there

I recently had 4 remotes,2 unresponsive so rather than ask Sky,after checking the battery compartment I noticed a poor connection.I simply pushed the springs further forward to make a tighter connection and all works fine now.

Let me know if this works for anyone else, saves a lot of hassle !!

Re: Stream remote completely unresponsive

This worked for me for around 2 days (if you look back in this thread you'll see I joyfully posted about it) ....then it stopped working again and no amount of stretching fixed it.

Ended up getting a replacement, but also then learned about the twisting, that seemed to last long enough, at least until the replacement arrived.

Re: Stream remote completely unresponsive

For anyone like myself who switched from Q to stream, keep hold of the SkyQ remote(s) you have, they work just as well with stream & are to all intents & purposes "bulletproof" compared to the flimsy not fit for use remotes that ship with stream.

Re: Stream remote completely unresponsive

Yeah I agree with previous post that you need to keep a hold of your Q remotes if you had it when you move over to Glass/Stream as it's hit or miss whether you'll get a remote that actually works. From what I've heard the problems are getting better and most new Glass/Stream remotes seem to be working now.

That's because all the "new" Glass/Stream remotes are everyone's old Q remotes! 😂

Re: Stream remote completely unresponsive

You're very wrong because if that was the case they would work with no problems.

Re: Stream remote completely unresponsive

I just had the same think - I received 3 pucks, 2 installed and worked perfectly, the 3rd has a dead remote.

Re: Stream remote completely unresponsive

So you can use the old remotes with the pucks?

Re: Stream remote completely unresponsive

@Steve-35

Sky Q remotes are nothing like the new Sky Stream remotes although they can be used to some extent with the Stream. Some features won't work though You can use voice to access most of what you might want. I think the Glass remotes will also work with Stream as they look much the same... you can buy them on Amazon or eBay.

It seems the problem with the Stream remotes is not a software problem as some people are saying and more to do with hardware. I had my Stream early October before they were released properly and have had no problems with it (although, in the beginning I thought it wasn't working, but realised it takes some 5 or 10 seconds to turn the puck on). I'm really enjoying the 'Stream" experience and although it's nothing like Sky Q, for me, it's working very well.... remote and puck.  I realise I am lucky and mine is probably an early batch before all the ones that people are receiving now. Sky, I assume, once they realise it's the remote, will  release a new batch to all the people with problems, but knowing Sky that could take months.
