Just shows how much attention I paid when setting it all up cos that part escaped my attention! 😂

 

Was getting ready to bin all the stream packaging earlier which prompted me to check there was nothing in the boxes that shouldn't be going in the bin & that's when I spotted the wee leaflet. 

Sky Q 2TB V3, 3 x Mini’s, Samsung 65” QLED TV, Sonos Beam, Sky Ultrafast Plus FTTP, 1 account for Sky Q & 1 for Broadband!

Received my sky stream yesterday.... today remote not responding, tried new batteries and nothing. Set up my second puck and that remote worked for 5 minutes then stopped. So two remotes both fail in 1 day. What can I do?

@mikenatsmith  Get some tweezers and pull out the positive spring where batteries go, this is the only thing that has work for me and kept the remotes working.

Unfortunately they are designed very badly, but once working all is good.

Just had a chat with Skys helpful team and the lady I spoke to fixed the problem remotes by twisting them like wringing a cloth... most strange but worked. Thanks to Val!

@mikenatsmith That does work, but if you keep doing it they will break eventually, also it does not last. Do would I said for longevity.

Val has obviously been reading this thread if she knows to do that (Hi Val, do me a favour and tell sky to send out remotes that actually work for their customers instead of hiding the problem)

LOL Val has definitely been reading the forums - I've even described the method several times as like wringing out a cloth.

 

It's great to think that my frustration with Sky's broken remotes lead to an 'official' fix for them via the help team 😂 I feel like the guy who introduced BluTack to Sinclair RAM packs 😊

 

But seriously. Sky.. Come on guys. send us non-faulty remotes.

First day with Stream, what a horrid out of box experiance and unfit for purpose support such as it was on a Saturday.. Looking like worst technology decision ive ever made. Looks like sunday with no TV thank God ive not cancelled Netflix.

Rebooted puck and remote still not working.

Tried WRINGING/TWISTING the remote and could not believe it.

IT ACTUALLY WORKED.

Had stream since release day, no issues until this morning and banf control not working. 

I can turn the box on, and every button on the left of the remote acts as a power button, every one on the right brings up search. Can't do anything else.

 

Changing batteries and the wringing trick hadn't worked. Managed to reconnect it once, now can't even unpair and reconnect.

 

Now about to message Sky demanding answers, or the whole thing is going back.

My remote has never worked since I got it on Tuesday. 

Sky are suppose to be sending a replacement. 

But thought I would have a paly and it worked.

I have a completely dead remote which didn't respond to any amount of twisting, tweezer pulling or prayer.

The wait for a replacement is now into week THREE!  

 

I can only hope that when it does eventually arrive it is part of a new batch of super-duper bullet-proof remotes from the planet Sky Q which, coincidentally, is the remote I'm having to use  at the moment.

Just spoke to a helpful chap called Steve, who is sending me a replacement which have, apparently,  been tested better so the problem shouldn't arise again....we'll see. He also offered me a £14 goodwill voucher and informed me you can download an app to watch it on a laptop or console,  which beggars the question  why they didn't just release this as a smart TV app to begin with.

 

We'll see if it arrives within 5 days, but going to download onto Xbox in the meantime. Luckily only watching the footy today so Freeview it is today.

The "app" he refers to is almost certainly Sky Go, which is really not the same thing as the Sky Stream interface at all. Either that or he has let slip something absolutely massive that has yet to be announced. Somehow I doubt that!
