Re: Stream remote completely unresponsive
If anything the Sky Q remotes do more than the Sky Stream remote. My Stream remote has worked fine since originally arriving dead and my discovery of the 'twist' method brought it back to life 4 weeks ago. I saw an official Q Voice remote on Amazon Warehouse the other day for £20 so decided to give it a go. The stream remote feels nicer (that soft touch really is lovely to hold) but the Q remote does all the same things on the same buttons as the stream remote and has additional buttons that make using the device easier these include but not limited to:
- Separate buttons to skip ahead and back by 1 minute (left /right) and fast forward removing need to awkwardly start fast forwarding then long hold to skip ahead
- fast forward and rewind jump ahead guide by 24h instead of long holding and going to the day
- channel up and down buttons to skip long lists guide etc / change channel
- Search button for typing searches instead of voice
- Info button saves a couple of clicks to get to detailed programme info
- When Bluetooth paired the voice function works fine too
- With the batteries removed from my old Stream remote i haven't had 'you've left the room' messages on the tv or random switch-offs because I havent changed channel for X period of time... the Q remote doesn't detect movement so it's not sending any info to the box (downside = screensaver doesn't stop by picking up remote and have to hit 'home' but i can live with that)
The only buttons that don't do anything are the input button (maybe this would work on Glass but the stream has no inputs), green/yellow/blue (only red needed) and the Sky logo button tries to load a page but whatever page it's trying just says 'please wait' forever.
I understand why sky removed lots of buttons from the Stream to simplify it (closer experience to other streaming boxes/ sticks etc i guess) but I much prefer having more buttons and split functionality to having to long hold to get what i want.
Anyway TLDR: Sky Q voice remotes work absolutely great with Sky Stream, if you still have yours from Q then hold 1 and 3 and get it paired.

Re: Stream remote completely unresponsive
@AntInBristol just out of curiosity, is there a TV Guide button on the Q remote?

Re: Stream remote completely unresponsive
Hi All
So Sky have admitted their remotes are faulty, and will replace them, but with like for like FOR NOW
They assure me they are on it and will be news re these soon.
In the meantime, what worked for me was a small screwdriver/blade in the battery springs to pull them out to make contact with batteries tighter.
Still works on the 3 out of 4 I had which were not working. Will be interested if this works for anyone else!!
Cheers Dasch

Remote control
Hello,
I'm just wondering how many more people are having issues with the remote control for sky stream puck, I ordered the puck almost 10 days ago but the remote control was completely dead, I've tried everything they suggested but still no luck, I call them and they said a replacement was on the way but no luck there as well.
Are there many people out there having the same issue ? I keep getting a text saying it has been ordered but no follow up text with a time frame for delivery, it's rather frustrating. Anyone can help ?
best

Re: Remote control
The remote you've got, give it a good twist by grabbing each end and as if wringing out a cloth. see if that brings it to life (first sign is that the backlights come on) Needs a good firm twist so the remote creaks a bit, but not enough to snap it!
It's worked for lots of us, let us know if it works for you too.

Re: Tv remote for sky stream won’t turn on
Admins - do you not think we could pin a remote post to the top of the forum, so that we don't get a new post every 1/2 hour.
@Chrisee - can you influence this one (p.s. I will whisper this - are you testing QS013 yet)

Re: Remote control
Remote not working is one of the most common topics on this forum at the moment.
As @AntInBristol suggests give it a good twist, it MAY work.
If my post has solved your issue please mark as an "Answer" as it helps others identify the solution

Steaming now working on both TV's thanks to stellar assistance from SKY telephone support rep. One of the Remotes deemed a dud and replacement on way now. Case closed.

Re: Stream remote completely unresponsive
Yes spoke to SKy and they are replacing remote. Telephone support was very good and an exemplar of best practice. Clearly the product is new and bugs still being worled out
