Sky Stream Remote Constantly Stops Working

Hi All,

 

Two out of three of our new Sky Stream pucks remote control have lost their connection and requires removal of a battery to get them to connect again. At first I thought it a battery problem (saw low battery warning on the TV when it worked) but now with new batteries we still have the same problem.

 

Any clues?

try pressing 7&9 for 7 seconds, then1&3 for 7 seconds whilts pointing the control at the puck. failing that unplug the puck and repeat. i have spoken to sky regarding this, this seems to be an on going issue. im geeting a replacement remote sent to me.

Further to my earlier post, I have now received confirmation from Sky that my contract has been cancelled without penalty and I have got the pre-paid returns label from their returns website to send back the puck and remote.

 

I am absolutely fuming that SKY think it is acceptable to keep shipping out units with faulty remotes when they must know there is a major problem.

 

I returned to SKY after several years absence,  but based on my recent experience I won't be returning again in a hurry. 

 

Shame really as STREAM seemed like an ideal replacement for our ancient YouView pvr.

Had Stream just over a month, had all the issues on this thread. All the "fixes" have brought remotes back to life for a day or so only to fail again. Eventually bought 2 Q remotes from Amazon. As this is obviously a hardware issue, Sky should issue a "Faulty product  notice" and offer a Q remote to affected users, until the issue with the faulty batch has been fully resolved.

Ive worked out how to fix this. My control arrived today and had a mind of its own one minute it worked and the next minute it didnt. The problem is the remote is faulty as the battery compartment does not hold the batteries in place consistently they move arounf and sometimes dont work. If you turn out the lights in your room and play around with the batteries holding them at different angles and adjusting the pressure and space between the batteries you will see that the backlight switches on and off. Working and not working in other words. I fixed mines by manipulating to where and how in the compartment that the batteries wanted to sit and then jamming and packing card before putting the cover back on. Now works perfectly. There is no software/firmware update that is ever going to fix this your remote if faulty full stop. Let me know if this works as well for you as it did for me. wink wink!

Could it just be chance that in playing around with the batteries, you are momentarily breaking the connection which causes the remote to reset in some way? Before I sent my kit back today, I looked at the battery connections closely. I was 100% sure there was a good contact between each battery pole  and the terminals on the remote.

 

Please let us know if your fix holds up over the period of a few days.

The remote can be cleary seen switching on and off when moving the batteries.

Sky glass remote has stopped working

The remote just stopped responding/lighting up. I've changed the batteries, rebooted the sky glass and tried pressing the keys together (many times). The remote doesn't even light up?

 

any ideas as this seems to be a recognised issue?

I was also not momentarily breaking the connection. I was doing the opposite i was momentarily making a connection which through the use of card i was able to keep the connection. Naturally the batteries didnt want to sit in the proper position for the remote to work.

Hold the remote in both hands and give it a twist, it has brought quite a few remotes back to life.

Loving the Sky Stream box but hating the remote!

 

Got it so my 4 Yr old Son could watch his favourite shows but whilst the service is a great idea the remote is a flipping nightmare!

 

Never know when it is going to work. Then it stops and starts. Then partially works (?!)

 

We have bodged our way through this first weekend but it can't carry on like this.

Try what I suggested with the cardboard fix. Mines is working perfectly now. It isn't exactly convenient however having to do that when changing batteries.

Sky pick remote

Both my remotes aren't working for my sky puck in the living room and bedroom? It's been a couple of days I've tried resetting the remotes?

Most probably like me your remote have packed in you need to ring sky and get them to send you some new ones. There's about a five day delay on them When are you ordered mine and I said it's something to do with the battery terminals but they do compensate you for loss of Service. Even if you get the remote to work again, some people say Bang them on a hard surface some people say twist them. Best of just giving sky a ring and trying to get some sent out
