Re: Remote dead

@Vincentcat have you tried holding it in both hands and twisting it? Like you're wringing out a cloth! Failing that buy a Sky Q remote from Argos and use that until you get a replacement.

Defective remote control.

I'm at my wits end with Sky Streams remote control. Sky have already replaced it once and now have the same issue.

I have been changing the batteries in the replacement once a week, and now even with fresh batteries nothing happens.
Now stuck paying for Sky Stream that I cannot use at all.

Can anyone assist?

Re: Stream remote completely unresponsive

Had the Stream for just over 1 week. While setting up, message on screen - Battery low. OK, sometimes this happens.

Over the next 4 days, changed the battery 3 times. They dont last more than a day, just used for Switching on and occasional channel changes.

Rang tech support, stated igonore message on screen. Pointless response, as remote dead within 24hours.

Thought I'll check how much current is being used while remote is sitting idle. 4mA and fluctuating continusoly. Explains why the batteries dont last. The remote should be sleeping, looks like its not, hence the problem of batteries being drained within 24hours, pointing towards the Remote control programming or hardware issue.

Next issue: Sky puck will not wake up, if the network is wired. Was told to disable wifi, does not make much difference.  So, when wired network, the puck is unable to wakeup when requested to wake up. Just get the SKY for few minutes and shutsdown. Works better on WifI.

Re: Remote dead

Just a bit rubbish after 2weeks have a weekend off load of money so begrudgingly don't really feel great about paying for a remote but looks like the only option apart from ransacking the local sky booth and the shopping center

Hold it in both hands and give it a twist - call sky anyway and book a replacement there's a bad batch going around

al else fails a sky q remote will pair up

Re: Stream remote completely unresponsive

Yes, while I totally get that we shouldn't have to, if I was still stuck with a dead remote right now (considering I'm already on #2) I'd be sourcing a Sky Q remote rather than waiting for Sky to get their finger out.

Like I say, shouldn't have to, but thats what I'd do.

Re: Stream remote completely unresponsive

Oh, and something else that's just crossed my mind that might possibly help those still struggling -

I discovered there is kind of "in between" state, between the Remote being dead, and working.

In this.state,.it's as if the Remote is simply undervolted, as if you are trying to use it with nearly dead batteries, so.you get "low battery" pop ups on the screen etc.

Now during my tinkering I discovered the following...

While in this state, I could operate the puck perfectly, no problems at all, right up to the point where I touched the volume buttons,. At which point the remote would either slow to a halt, or stop working completely.

Before I discovered this I assumed my remote was working for a few minutes then dying... But the reality was it would work for as long as you like, as long as you don't touch those volume buttons.   It doesn't matter if you have set the control up to control your speakers or TV or not.

So if you are in this limbo, try repairing the remote, Skip the "Control your TV" section, and see how you go WITHOUT TOUCHING THE VOLUME OR POWER CONTROL  as it seems it was the IR functions that were pushing my particular remote into a coma.

Absolutely not Ideal I know, ....but at least you might be able to actually use your Stream until it's sorted properly.

Hope this helps someone.

Just for point of reference I had my sky glass and a puck back in April and never any issues with the remotes - in fact the remotes are a lot better than the q remotes

I suspect that when sky ramped up production ahead of the stream release the manufacturing process may have run into some difficulties.......

Re: Sky puck remote not working

I am having the same issue. My pick remote isn't working at all. Its my first ever sky product, I was so excited and now I can't even use it (and its not cheap). I have the Sky Puck and I have changed the remote batteries and I have tried the holding down of buttons etc but none of it is getting the remote to work.

Re: Sky puck remote not working

@Ldown45 Have you tried @AntInBristol 's 'twist trick' as mentioned in this thread? https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Glass-Stream/Stream-remote-completely-unresponsive/td-p/4128756/page/32 - it's helped many on here breathe life into dead remotes.

I also noticed that the remote seemed to die after setting up the IR to control the TV.

Re: Stream remote completely unresponsive

I now have two remotes bought from Amazon that are working fine. No issues for 5 days now.

Re: Stream remote completely unresponsive

I wish I had seen these posts before ordering my Stream. It arrived today, and guess what? The remote is playing up already. No amount of trying the tips provided in earlier posts make any difference. I have called Sky and told them I wish to cancel my contract under the cooling off rules.
