I came home tonight to find my daughter had dropped it off the sofa and it had stopped working. Tried new batteries, the key reset. Nothing. It was dead. Then read this and twisted it. Magically it's come back to life. Definitely a hardware issue. Thanks for your help!

I'm so glad my anger and frustration at receiving a faulty product is helping lots of people 🤣 I'm about 12 hours in and have had no further problems with the remote. The twist and bend of the remote seems to have worked well! 

 

Now if violence (or just Sky themselves) fixed all the Sky Stream's other problems too it has the potential to be a great device 🥲 (I have 5G broadband from 3 and Sky channels box sets and catch up doesn't play - but that's for another thread that I'm keeping an eye on!)

Is there any way to switch hdmi source using the sky puck remote ? Really don't want to keep switching remotes over to change source , was always a source button with sky q

I haven't find a way of switching source using the Sky puck remote, which is weird as most remotes from providers have the option these days.

Nope!


It seems that Sky are of the opinion that their Stream puck should be the one and only device that their customers should have attached to their TV. What with this and the knackered CEC implementation, it's almost as if they don't care about any other kit... oh wait, they don't.

Thank you to the previous poster who twisted the remote: I did the same and it came back to life after being 'dead' for the first time last night after three weeks of usage.

So went to try fix my remote today. I made mistake taking out batteries of the other remote ended having to reset both boxes. After about two hours I managed to get working. If this happens again I'm cancelling returning.

 

One question though, my lg TV picks this bt box for some reason do they also suffer from this remote issue ?

I really share everyone's frustrations on this thread! Sky Stream delivered last Saturday, problems with the remote from day one, but we muddled through then Wednesday the remote stopped working in any capacity and hasn't worked since!

 

called for support on Wednesday and I believe a new remote is being sent, but took 40 minutes to get to that point, was also instructed to reset the puck, even though without the remote working I am just stuck being asked to press 4&6 together yet of course nothing happens!  Was told to try each day but quite honestly that just adds to the frustration when not being able to use something paid for as well as the cost of keeping changing batteries to check my sanity!

 

if the new remote doesn't work, it'll be back to Apple TV...

If you've got a new one on the way, grab the old one, go somewhere dark and with the batteries in grab it at each end and give it a gentle squeeze and twist and bend.  Gradually twist back and forth giving a little more pressure each time and see if at any point the backlights for the keys come on. 

 

Obviously don't go mad and snap it, gentle to medium force is needed but give it a try. It's worked for many of us and also only do this if the remote is completely dead - no backlight coming on when pressing keys.

Haha they are trying to make Sky Glass the one Box for everything but for me it falls short on quite a few apps. It was nice to see them add Lionsgate+ though.

Apple TV Library [Movies I own] i know that one isn't there fault as that's Apple Decision.

NFL Gamepass [I don't want to just watch the games Sky pick for me]

Viaplay [NHL and Rugby]

BT Sport Box Office [Sure they are working on that one]

 

I like the system but it won't be replacing my Apple TV 4K entirely like my Apple TV 4K won't be replacing Sky Stream.

Thank you so much @AntInBristol! I tried that the other day but think I must have been too reserved! My husband went in with the 'nothing to lose' attitude, twisted and bent it quite hard and it suddenly burst into life! Now can try and complete the reset!

I have the same issue, got the puck installed today. Worked all day and now in the evening the remote isn't working. Tried changing batteries. And reconnecting, says it's connected then goes off 10 seconds later?

@SueC1009 I'm so glad it worked!! And at least when the replacement arrives you'll have a spare! I've had zero issues in the 2 days since I got my remote to work this day..

 

Really disappointing though that a lot of the issues people are having with the remote seem to be linked to bad build quality. Sky should probably sort that out.
