Exactly! They are just trying to sell people upgrades like HD and Q boxes which they know won't work.

This response from SKY is an insult to our intelligence
It is sold as a benefit and *I* pay for multiple users to be able to use the service and they cannot .
I have seen this issue with BT, Vodafone and even SKY's own braodband .
This is down to SKY to sort given only SKY downloads fail

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more
@nattysalmon wrote:Have also been informed today that it's because I don't pay for Sky HD which is why I can't download.
All things being equal you can download in SD.
Try changing the default download format for convenience.

Raised a query and was just told "Sky hope to have fixed the issue in January but cannot guarantee it will be"..........
29 Dec 2021 08:51 PM
Well that is nonsense, if the error is the queuing issue (( I DO pay for HD

@mark+J+Smyth Because the Sky servers have some sort of issue with the DNS, if it was an easy fix then they would have resolved by now.
Netflix and Prime video are streaming services, and don't download, so they are slightly different.

@mark+J+Smyth You are in the minority, unfortunately, this DNS updated has resolved the issue for a LOT of people, and it's not specifically a DNS issue, it seems to be Sky's ability to read the DNS on your router, so hard coding a DNS on the Q box gets around that issue.
29 Dec 2021 09:25 PM
@grayuk It also affects Sky broadband, which would suggest its a Sky box issue and not a broadband provider specifically.
29 Dec 2021 09:27 PM
@grayuk I initially power cycled the Q box, but I've tested and it's not strictly required, but as with all PC's (which the Q box effectively is), its always good to turn it off and on again occasionally. 😉

@nattysalmon Why would you have Sky Q without HD?
29 Dec 2021 09:41 PM
Hi, We're also having the same issue. For a few weeks our ability to download has been pretty hit and miss however we're now unable to do so at all. The last acknowledgment on here from Sky was the 22nd Dec and it's now the 29th, surely there has been some progress made to rectify this by now. Can you update please?
29 Dec 2021 09:44 PM
Because I don't think it's worth the extra £7 a month... We were happy with the Sky+ box but have the Sky Q as it didn't cost anything and made our sky subscription cheaper.

Omg this will be the 3rd skyq box I've had and now issues downloading .I'm sick of calling them having to wait for an engineer and now this time of year I can't Download and watch anything! .. I've tried the dns ..it worked for a few days and now it's back to square 1 ... with having to re connect all the minis again ... im beginning to think it's not worth the money, we pay and absolute fortune to sky thinking of just cancelling... fuming

Downloads ok in sd ..so that's what I have been Doing..Once sky finally get it sorted I will be asking for a refund on my hd subscription......

Well I think I have resolved the sky down load issue! I went into settings and noticed that my network connection was saying I was connected to a sky router? I Don't have sky broadband!!! I changed it to my BT broadband and it seems to now let me down load anything!!! I don't know if this is a fluke!! But maybe worth a try?
