Hey,
I currently have FreeSat at my house. I'm thinking of getting Sky Q. I share the dish with my nextdoor neighbour, they recently had Sky Q installed and Sky changed the dish & the LNB. They reconnected mine up and worked as normal.
Reading online it doesn't seem like you can connect another Sky Q box to the same dish. I was wondering what would Sky usually do in this scenario? Its not possible to install a Sky Dish on my property due to tree's. Kindly our neighbours allowed us to have a feed from their dish.
I've attached a picture to make it clearer. One feed goes to our property (via the gutter) the other to theirs.
I'm wondering if
1) is it possible to have 2 Sky Q boxes from a single dish as is?
2) If not, will/would sky install another dish on that pole if needed (even though its not my property; with permission)?

They shouldn't permit such an arrangement: because Sky boxes feed current to the LNB, such a setup bridges the gap which is supposed to be maintained between electrical circuits in different properties.

No: even a Q 'hybrid' LNB only allows one main Q box to be attached.

I suspect they may be concerned about wind-loading of two dishes on one pole: depending on the attitude of your local authority there may also be planning issues.

Find out more@deliciouspooAlthough there is a hybrid LNB which will support ONE Q installation and possibly 2 Freesat, dishes should not be shared due to safety implications mainly earthing, the other thing is that I doubt if Sky will work on a dish that High due to their safety rules.
The other problem is if your neighbours ever move the new person could remove the dish or just cut your wiring away.

It looks high in the picture although its only at the 2nd story of a row of houses. The earthing makes sense, but they have worked on this only a few months ago and didn't complain haha.

HOWEVER if they do.
CHECK BEFORE they leave that your neighbour's TV is still working and they have not Replaced the LNB with a Q one and disconnected the neighbour, you could be very unpopular.

That's the thing - my neighbour already has Sky Q. It looks like its already a Hybrid LNB and my FreeSat is fed from the non-wideband output.
I'm wondering if its worth having an indenpdent come out to put up another Dish on that pole -- or possibly a multiswitch, if sky won't do it. But then, my question is will Sky complain that the Dish is not on my property and i've just paid for a dish that's wasted.

@nigea99 @deliciouspoo Yes missed it, however ignore my ramblings as it is technically impossible to run two Q installations from a single domestic dish, with the equipment Sky will supply.

Is it possible without a multi switch somewhere?

Without a multiswitch ?
Not possible with or without a multiswitch

Without that pole being securely earthed, having two dishes mounted on a single unearthed pole would still contravene the fundamental requirement that communal satellite distribution systems should have both the hardware and the screens of all residents coaxial cable feeds securely earthed, at the point of distribution. This earth connection should be provided from an independent source and not just a feed from the nearest 13A ringmain wiring.
Godfrey.

Thanks - makes perfect sense. I guess it's probably not taking the risk and ordering Sky Q then. 😔

Just reading online that the older style EL010 LNB all 6 ports supported wideband. Does this mean that you can simply plug in one single box to any 2 ports, or does it mean you could in theory have 3 Sky Q boxes?

Last time they came out they refused to install one due to the trees behind my property. To clear the trees the height they'd need to be at they wasn't allowed to go to. Sadly i cannot cut down the trees either.
