Re: Remote network problem
@bob1234 - Thanks for the info though I'm not quite sure what you mean. I've connected the Sky Q and Sky mini through wired ethernet via the TP-Link extenders and configured the connections on each box using the Advanced settings.
Are you saying that the problme could be to do with the Sky Q and mini not connecting together correctly or something else?
Any input most welcome!!!

Re: Remote network problem
@Anonymous How did you block Adm.sky.com?
I managed to do it through my TP Deco network by going to parental controls and adding the Sky box as a device to monitor. When it tries to log on to adm.sky.com you it appears in the browsing log. From there you can block that connection. However.....when I do this nothing downloads to the Sky box as it can't make the connection to adm.sky.com. Just wondering how yours is still working after it's blocked?

Re: Remote network problem
Either the blocking wasn't effective or didn't work as I'm getting the issue again on episode 1 of Two weeks to live, yet episode 2 downloaded without issue. 😡

Re: Remote network problem
I'm guessing it wasn't blocked using the method you used as when it is blocked it won't download anything as it can't reach the server. It's a frustrating issue. It started when the latest update was installed if I remember correctly. Hopefully they'll be a new update soon to address the issue although I'm not holding my breath as no one from Sky has even commented on here! 😞 Who knows if they are even aware? Calling the sky helpline is useless. They know less about the systems than we do. It needs someone with in-depth tech knowledge who's actually involved in the software development to look into it.

Re: Remote network problem
I updated the box with a software release last night, it hasn't made any impact. Problem before problem after. I'm not sure there is anything we can actually do as the problem is at the Sky end of this I'm sure. Too many of use with the problem to be with our config, equipment or setups.

Re: Remote network problem
Well I agree that we can't do anything other than get a non-4G broadband. There seems to be an issue with Sky Q and 4G data connections. Weirdly it works fine when streaming the services through and iPad on Sky go so it's definitely a software issue with the Sky q box specifically. I originally thought it was a TP-link issue but the Huawei 4G unit was the same. Like we've discovered, it's only programs with adverts that have the issue when it tries to log on to adm.sky.com. Everything without adverts works fine.
I wonder if it's because it doesn't know what region we are in to target the local adverts? Anything with national adverts will work fine as it's non-region specific and explains why sometimes programs download one time but not another. I'll try calling Sky again when I can to point them to this thread so a software engineer can look at it. The problem is the bods on the phones probably won't be able to escalate this to the right people 🙄. They'll just offer to send an engineer round who is clueless to what's going on.....

Re: Remote network problem
And I've tried with and without 4G+ connection and it makes no difference. Most success I've had is reducing the resolution of the download (and hence the size.)
Not a good solution but currently it is working with Succession.

Re: Remote network problem
@Anonymous Have you tried connecting your Sky Q box directly to your MR600 Router? Whenever I try to do this it crashes the Sky box after about 30 seconds of connection. The fan speed in the Sky box goes full speed and I have to turn it off at the wall. The only way to get the Sky box to boot after this is to turn off the WiFi on the router otherwise it tries to connect while it boots and crashes it before you can even acces the menus. Very odd. Have you experienced this?

Re: Remote network problem
My mr600 is physically connect to the Sky Q via Ethernet. That is the only way I get sensible download speeds from the sky q box. Sky q using Wi-fi from any network is dire. Using a wired connection I get 60mbps rather than 23mbps BT gives me., when it works.

Re: Remote network problem
I am unable to have a direct connection between my router and the Sky q as they are in different rooms in my house. If I move the router downstairs to the Sky Q the speed drops right off. Using a powerline adaptor doesn't seem to work too fast for some reason. Tbf my powerline adaptors are quite old but still 200mbts so should be ok.

Re: Remote network problem
Yes, I downloaded in SD and it worked but it's a little inconsistent when it fails to know it wouldn't have worked with HD for that attempt as well. Besides, as I'm sure you'll agree, paying Sky an extortionate amount of money and then watching SD programs on a 4K isn't ideal.

Re: Remote network problem
One of the beauties of the 4G router for me is having it almost next to the Sky Q box so no issues with cables.
