Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

@gibbo1967 - Do you mind me asking which email address you used when requesting the credit/refund from Sky?

I've only logged my request verbally and I havent much confidence that anything will come my way without getting something down on paper.

(oh me of little faith)

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

I'm sorry but for some reason it won't let me include the email address in my response. If you just type in your search how to complain to sky, click on the first link that appears. Go to the bottom of that page and theirs a blue box that says "Get in touch with us" click on that and it brings up a form to fill in.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

I've sent an email asking for some sort of credit on my account. See what happens

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

I had the pixelation on my sky mini on bt sport , my boxes are connected via Ethernet cables . I had to turn the WiFi off on all minis and my sky q box problem solved.

This was a few months ago problems never returned.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

@laister  this is what makes me think there is a bug in the Wifi net code which is eating up resources on the boxes.  Thats why the problem generally gets worse over time although doesn't explain why Live TV is not affected!

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

Turning off the WiFi isn't really an option if the whole house uses the q boxes as their WiFi  hotspots, which we do. This has only become an issue in the last couple of months, so it is a software problem and must be fixable.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

Just to add to the ever growing number of posts on this issue: I have intermittant pixelation (for a couple of seconds each time) on both Mini and Main Q box. At the moment it is happeneing on Sky Sports 'Live' and on several different channels on which I've recorded or downloaded programs. This has been happening since the beginning of January. Based on previous posts here I'll wait a few more weeks for Sky's investigation to complete and hopefully find a fix.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

Not wanting to detract Skys focus from investigating this issue but can I ask how many of us affected have iphones that are on charge in the vicinity of the mini boxes?

I noticed last night (which could be a coincidence) that whilst my wife and I were watching the mini the picture was ok and we commented that it hadn't broken up.

We both plugged our iphone 11's in to charge and within 10 minutes the picture started to break up.  It didn't do it too often as we had rebooted the system earlier in the day but there were a couple of incidents.

Like I say - it could just be coincidence but thought i'd put it out there.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

My box is cabled ethernet and I get this problem but not as much as others seem to have.

I got a new sky q Main box last month and have only had the probem (and other  issues) since then

@Anthonyh1976

I personally don't think so as we don't have our iPhones 11's upstairs and the bedroom mini box is the worst affected and we never have the phones near the mini boxes plus I moved anything that might interfere I.e Amazon Alexa, Hive I even moved the hub well away from the sky boxes.

but worth mentioning it was one of the first things I did was to move anything that might interfere.

@lukedaniel17  whilst you have done many of the right things to mitigate this issue I can guarantee that if you did a WiFi heat map of your property you would be truly astonished at how WiFi actually works and where it's present and where it isn't.?

@Piesarus

I know it astounding we have had around 8 engineer visits and I have seen from their configuration of our mesh how appliances are connected but they could not find any interference, the only item that sent the whole system into meltdown was their sky booster oddly enough, anyway I believe it's irrelevant the pixelation issue which has only started since November has to be a sky issue none of us had issues before for this problem even if our systems are affected by interference else why would we all have the issue at the same time regardless of our setups.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

We've actually taken the trouble to power down/disconnect all WiFi enabled devices, leaving only the router, the main Sky Q box and the Q-mini on the network - pixelation still occurs.

We're also experiencing a periodic audio drop-out on both boxes whilst watching live TV.

The whole set up has become notcably glitchy.

Perhaps i'm monitoring it much closer these days.....

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

Thanks @lukedaniel17  I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something obvious as its driving me mad!

Logically, the fact the pixelation only happens on certain channels recordings says it can't be a localised interference issue.

Hi @Daz.K67  Have you tried a different HDMI cable?
