Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Medicine+Woman Yes that is correct the games on ppv would never have been part of the normal sports package either from sky or bt

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreYes, the current deal with broadcasters was
Sky - 128 matches
Bt - 52 matches
Amazon - 2 mid week series (which was 20 matches but but as a normal series is 5, could count as 10 matches)
That is 180 for sky and bt over 360 available matches (this excludes the amazon match serieses)
So the 5 per week that will be ppv are the matches not part of the existing broadcast deals

Ultimately Sky could of said we don't want to be involved in charging people even more money during these testing times. I'm sure they aren't providing a service to watch these extra matches free of charge.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreAccording to an article on this
"All profits will go to Premier League clubs and not the broadcasters"
So for sky or bt, it won't matter if 1 person buys the match of 1 million people buys a match, it would be the fixed cost of setting it up that they'll get

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreHad nobody ever heard of covid these games would have been played at 3pm on a Saturday which is a time when Sky and BT can't cover live games.

You do know that the decision to put these matches on PPV are nothing to do with Sky or BT as it is solely down the Premier leagues and their clubs. Both Sky and BT are making no money out if this so your anger is directed towards the wrong people.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreHow can it be daylight robbery when PPV are optional and no one is being forced to watch them, also they are not part of the match bundle that comes with Sky Sports

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreI'd be more concerned about your negotiation skills if you're paying £154.50 per month as a diamond VIP! When did you last call to renew your contract??

I've been SkyTV subscriber since 1991, I am a Sky diamond VIP, I pay £154.50 per month for my subscription, and now they have the audacity to want to charge £14.95 per game to watch live football matches. 29 years and I am seriously thinking of cancelling my TV subscription. I know that the Premier League are losing revenue whilst fans cannot go to the stadiums, but we are all in the same boat here, everyone is suffering from the pandemic, everyone is feeling the pinch. Do the right thing and have a rethink on this decision, it is quite frankly daylight robbery.
@rackitt Regardless of the football costs, I do think you should give Sky a call & get a better deal, £154.50 pm sounds way over the top. I don't even pay that over the course of 2 months & I have TV, broadband & phone.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreI agree with @Anonymous
You need to renegotiate this as that is too much that you are paying
Anyway, the clubs made the decision to charge this.

Am I the only person **bleep** off with the high charges to watch premier league games on Box Office. At the moment I find my self being charged £28 per month and none of the games I want to watch are on Sky Sports. They now want me to pay an additional £45 to be able to view those games and worse still they have been moved to early on a Monday evening. Tempted to ditch Sky TV altogether.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreIf you tale a quick look through the forum, you'll see that the PPV events are additional matches that wouldn't have been shown anyway as part of your Sky Sport subscription. PPV matches are being charged at the behest of the Premier League, not Sky.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreI would be happier if it was confirmed the revenue from these PPV games was being filtered down to the lower league clubs, many of whom are in real danger of going out of business due to covid resctrictions affecting gate reciepts.
I'm not holding my breath, more likely the money will go towards overpaid transfers/salaries in the EPL. 😞

That headline appears to have some missing words:
