Re: Pay per view charges for football are disgraceful.

Fancy getting annoyed at paying £14.95 for a PPV but not getting annoyed at paying £154.50 a month for Sky.

And I thought I was paying a lot for my Sky 😮

Re: Pay per view charges for football are disgraceful.

I could have been writing that myself. Also pay for BT Sport and the same applies. During the last 7 months I ahve not received any rebate for not showing sport or for the lack of new films and programs being made, but as soon as they are able we have to pay £14.95. I too am considering canceling Sky TV and forming a "bubble" with my two sons where one subscribes to Sky and one subscribes to BT and one pays for PAYV.

Forget the loyalty VIP gifts, just give us a fair deal.

There was an option to pause your Sky Sport subscription from March until June.

The PPV charge is levied by the Premier League, not Sky - as already explained.

£15 Charge for a Premier league on sky sports box office

I have a NowTv subscription which covers all the games in the Premier league on sky sports.

I realise the Newcastle United vs Manchester United game has been moved to sky sports box office. There is an extra charge of £15 to watch the game which is outrageous for the fans.

The sky sports subscription is not cheap to begin with now with an additional charge many fans are not going to be able to watch the game. The love of football and Newcastle United is being taken advantage of by sky sports. If we pay we can watch but is it the right thing to do.

Sky sports has many channels available to have the game on for the fans. During the pandemic some fans have suffered not being able to watch the games in the stadiums. The football fans are trying to get through the pandemic with the return of live games.

The PPV games are extra games that were never scheduled to be shown on TV and were never included in the matches that sky sports purchased, Sky only get enough money to cover the costs of broadcasting the extra games and the clubs get all the profit, this enables people to see the games in safely rather that having to go to the stadiums in person

BTW, Now TV has its own forums https://community.nowtv.com

You have got this wrong, the decision to put these additional games on pay per view on both the Sports Box Office and the BT Box Office is one taken by the Premier League only and neither Sky or BT had any say in this as the league is the Premier League's product so they can do whatever they want with these additional games. Neither Sky or BT are making any money from pay per view as all money made will be going to the Premier League clubs themselves.

Re: Pay per view charges for football are disgraceful.

Everyone having a go at me regarding it being my option to PPV as those games are not in the subscription, are missing my point. What I am saying is everyone has had a crappy year due to this ongoing pandemic and we're all feeling the pinch, for the Premier League to ask us to pay to see these matches is wrong, why should we pay more when most of us already pay big subscriptions and season tickets for our favourite teams, I know we'll get refunds for the games behind closed doors, but we fill their coffers very full and let them have an unbelievable lifestyle, to ask for more when we're all down and skint, they could have shown every game as a good will gesture and just paid themselves a little less, they can afford it more than most.

@rackitt I really don't see what the fuss is about making some games PPV, these would never have been broadcast and no one is forced to pay it's completely optional.

The Premier league could charge less as i do think £14.95 is to much, wanting the Premier League to make them free to view is unrealistic and would never happen.

@rackitt  On another point, have you phoned Sky about your extortionate monthly bill yet?

Newcastle United were one of the 19 clubs to vote in favour of this.

On sky's preexisting deal, there is 128 games and bt preexisting deal is 52 games. These are what is paid for in the sky and bt subscriptions.

The ppv  are the additional games to these 180 games over 36 gameweeks (the other 2 are with amazon)

The rest of the matches shown outside of these were bonuses.

Newcastle v Man Utd

I have just realised that Sky are broadcasting this match live.  I have eventually found it on Sky Box Office.  When I try to record it, it says "checking purchase information", but no cost appears.  I would like to think that I won't have to pay for this as I am paying full package subscription.  Is this correct?  If I am asked to pay for this, then this could well be the final straw and I will cancel Sky.

@ianmerseyside Looks like its pay per view

It states

This programme will be automatically recorded and your account will be charged once the programme starts.

To cancel the order you must cancel the recording before it starts.

Paying a full package subscription doesn't cover Sky Sports Box office

I'm afraid  its £14.95 if you don't cancel the recording.

This is the Premier League's doing @best+of+the+best  as they have decided that these extra games that were not originally scheduled to be broadcast by Sky or BT are going to be on pay per view. All money made will go to the clubs as neither Sky or BT are making any money from this.

Hmm. Do you honestly think Sky and BT would do this if they weren't getting money for it?? They're not charitable foundations.
