Odd Broadband Speed Issues.

I'm having broadband issues, and could use some help.

Dispite Sky reporting I have 77Mbps to the router my end is reporting 36Mbps

Sometimes I have the 77Mbps, most of the time I have 36Mbps, my minimum line speed is 67Mbps

So,

Hardware/cables are not an issue, I have tested on Desktop (wired and WiFi) with multiple OS's, Laptops (wired and WiFi), Phones (WiFi). Same results.

I have had 3 BT engineers out, and 2 Sky engineers.

Sky have supplied me with a replaccement router.

I've had 3 new BT sockets fitted.

and they've even swapped my socket in the junction box (which is less than 100 meters from my house)

Any ideas? 🙄

Also, it seems there are a few others with the same problem in the area.

Re: Odd Broadband Speed Issues.

About 2 weeks ago, he simply reset my connection from the junction box.

I phoned Sky again when that failed and they sent me a new router which shows the same issue after 24hours of running fine.

Re: Odd Broadband Speed Issues.

Via ethernet, I also changed the wifi password and waited untill my PC was the only thing connected.

There has been recent evidence of network faults etc having a knock on effect on device speed.

Can you check you ethernet cables to see if all 8 pins are wired. If so on the router->ethernet tab check its set to gigabit if only 4 pins the set ethernet to fast.

Can you try leaving the new router alone for about 48 hours? We've seen it before where the download speed is about half of the line speed once a fault has been fixed or a new router installed.

If the speed doesnt return after 48hours then the next step is to switch the router off for 20mins so that a new public IP is issued to you.

Re: Odd Broadband Speed Issues.

I have done this many times now, full reset seems to make no difference the speed will just randomly be fine or not. Most of the time unfortunatly, not.

I would suggest its a device/throughput issue as a result of work carried out at the cabinet and to follow @jamesn123 advice
