No Internet access on 2.4GHz but 5GHZ & LAN fine

A few days ago some of our devices were unable to connect to the internet over Wifi, but others were OK.

Took a while but found that splitting the 2.4 & 5 into two sperate networks allowed us to force the connection over 5GHz when the connection was fine.

I've a few things connected by cable and they are fine too. This means that any remote tests come back positive as I have devices connected.

Unfortunately we've a few things that will only connect to 2.4 so while this workaround is OK for a couple of days I've been trying to get to the bottom of it.  Rebooted & reset a number of times and the issue persists. Nothing similar found online so asking here.

(SR203 / 5.14.2405.R).

Any ideas?

@Jt0

Usually we would see this issue if a 3rd party device takes the same SSID as your Sky hub and broadcasts on the 2.4ghz frequency. If no device you know of is doing this then I would suggest it could be a faulty router

@Jt0

Thats a bit odd. Are you using any Sky boosters or 3rd party boosters/powerline adapters?

Re: No Internet access on 2.4GHz but 5GHZ & LAN fine

@Jt0 Simple but does get missed, have you given the two networks different names after splitting them, like 5GHz on the end of that network? When they're not synced it can cause issues with devices connecting.

Re: No Internet access on 2.4GHz but 5GHZ & LAN fine

Thanks both,

@jamesn123  - Yes, I've got a powerline adapter, but it uses a different network name. It's been turned off for the last while to see if that was an issue. One workaround is to get that back up and running and broadcasting on 2.4GHz.

@JPR007  - When I split them I took the simple approach of adding  '_5G' to the end of the 5GHz one.

Also tried leaving the 5GHz as was and renameing the 2.4GHz one, but had the same issue. 2.4GHZ now back to original name.

I'll keep looking...

Re: No Internet access on 2.4GHz but 5GHZ & LAN fine

@jamesn123

Looks like it was the powerline  - one end of it wasn't actually turned off and your comment made me go back and check.

Having removed it from the wall it looks like I'm back on track.

I discounted it to beign with as I could see the two networks it was meant to be broadcasting - obviously was relicating the Sky one unknown to me.

Thakn again for all your help - shoudl have asked earlier.
