No adjustments to the modem required. Just keep in mind you cant really have the Sky hub & Asus router connected at the same time if your going to make the IP address space the same. 

IPv6 is disabled by default on the Asus router, you can enable it if you wish under Advanced > IPv6.

Ohh and another that I forgot.: -

I see that from the Sky Maintenance screen above that  MER appears on the WAN Port - does this apply now?  I think you said this is handled by the Modem?  Also I've noticed my Downstream speed has reduced from 60kbps to 45/46kbps - is this normal when fettling? And will it get back to normal ? - I do hope so!

Only if you specifically want to use it. The internet is still a while away from sites going IPv6 only and having any performance benefit over IPv4.

Its likely the amount of disconnectings/connections on the DSL has triggered DLM to think the line is unstable and move you from the optimised 3dB margin back to the normal 6dB. Once it stays connected for a week or so it should go back to 3dB.

I believe that was re the TP-Link modem, there may have been two Sky VDSL options to select in the ISP list, one showing MER. I think that is what was advised not to select, and use the Sky VDSL, not Sky VDSL MER?

Absolutely correct - I remember now.  So what should be done in the Asus Router then? or will MER simply be activated automatically?  Confused, sorry.

Sky does not use MER it uses DHCP Option 61. The Asus handles DHCP Option 61. The TP-Link has been set up as a pure bridge that neither involves MER or DHCP Option 61.

Okidoki - I'll ignore MER then if it appears on any setup screen in the Asus.  I'll get cracking now - hopefully the next time I'm on here will be when I deploy the Asus kit hehe!  Bye for now and thanks once more for your wonderful support.

Now then I have come unstuck - I knew I would because I don't fully follow what the settings should be in the Asus Router.  OK so first up, I changed the TP-Link's modem ip address to 192.168.1.1 just because that seemed the right thing to do.  I then logged into the router which still showed I had Internet and changed the SSIDs  - so far so good.

But then I set about changing the WAN Connection Type from Automatic ip to Static ip, to hopefully reserve 192.168.0.23 for my PC as it was when using Sky.  I changed a few settings and got into a big pickle: -

After an hour or so this is where I've ended up after logging back in eventually: -

But now no internet once more, obviously due to conflict(s) somewhere which I don't understand: -

It's obviously something to do with the WAN IP setting in the router - I've set it to match that of the modem.

You need to change the WAN configuration back to what it was, eg: automatic IP. Static IP is not the correct configuration for the WAN port which connects you to the internet, eg: Sky does not offer public static IP addresses to their customers and even when they do the configuration is the same as you had it when you had a reliable internet connection with the Asus.

Why on earth would you try and change the WAN settings after you got it working? Especially when your WAN settings have absolutely no relation to your local addressing that goes out to PCs, mobiles etc. 

I did say dont mess with settings that you are not familiar with.

Also not really sure why you would change the modems IP to 192.168.1.1 this is the IP for your Asus router and you've now just messed up the LAN completely.

The settings you are looking for to set static IPs for your devices are located under LAN not WAN.
