Re: New 3rd Party Router - To Improve WiFi
@mae-3 @jamesn123 No that doesn't appear to have worked - I've changed to "Continuous" and taken out the space in the "61 Option string", rebooted but it is still showing "Your ISP's DHCP does not function properly".
I'm dreading going back into the modem settings as if you tell me to do something, invariably, I cannot do it due to the way the GUI is set up. Just so you know I'm back on my PC's fixed ip adress when accessing the Router

Re: New 3rd Party Router - To Improve WiFi
When you set up the TP-Link router into a bridge did you set a VLAN of 101?

Re: New 3rd Party Router - To Improve WiFi
@mae-3 @jamesn123 There have been so many changes to the Modem, I haven't a clue now where things are. And just how I can show you its setup, please tell me how. As I said it is so difficult to do things you tell me because we are all seemingly singing from different hymn sheets in that the GUI's screens depend on what's input and differs from one modem version to another. I am using the version 4 modem

Re: New 3rd Party Router - To Improve WiFi
That may be the way to go with you showing each screen as you proceed, I've got all afternoon free to assist to get this router with a bridge going, but have never set up a TP-Link router into the bridge but done many others and unfortunately, the GUI is different on every piece of equipment...

@mae-3 @jamesn123 Bl***y H**l guys - you both rock! - Right I'll check each of those screens one by one and take things from there, coming back to you as soon as I can - just need to go back to a fixed ip on my PC and log back in to the router, reverting back to log into the Asus. Speak again soon

Re: New 3rd Party Router - To Improve WiFi
Taking the screens @jamesn123 has kindly shared in numerical order (Top to Bottom): -
Screen 1 = ok
Screen 2 = Just needed to enable SRA
Screen 3 = My screen is below but I do not know how to change it:-
Screen 4 = This is where things went belly-up - I changed the ip address to 192.168.1.2 , saved down and rebooted as requested - now I am unable to log back in!
Screen 5 = Can't remember exactly but think my screen is the same except for WAN Interface Name
screen 6 = ok
Screen 7 = Wan Interface Name isn't the same and the the DSL screen isn't shown but mine is: -

So I'm now logged out so cannot immediately make any changes due to ip change (Screen 4).
Help!

Re: New 3rd Party Router - To Improve WiFi
You should be able to login to the router at http://192.168.1.2 now and the gateway is now 192.168.1.2 for your PC setup screen fixed IP with the same details for prefix length, DNS servers, etc...

Re: New 3rd Party Router - To Improve WiFi
Screenshot 5 on @jamesn123 post controls screenshot 3 and you'll find you have set up the VLAN ID wrong, it should be set to 101. So, do screenshot 5 before checking screenshot 3 and it should amend itself.

Re: New 3rd Party Router - To Improve WiFi
Yeah screen 3 looks off too. You need to bind the correct bridge profile to a specific port on the modem & then make sure the Asus router is connecting to that particular port

Re: New 3rd Party Router - To Improve WiFi
Yes I can login again now - phew!
Yes I wondered if screenshot 5 is the issue. This is the screenshot 5 after trying to amend to the same and save down: -
I believe I have done this already after going through the instructions to setup the modem as a pure modem but clearly this doesn't show. So now am very confused.

Re: New 3rd Party Router - To Improve WiFi
To fix go to Network > Internet and do 'Delete all' under network connections
Then select 'add' and fill out the box as I have done below
Save that then go to 'Interface grouping' your config should then automatically be the same as mine
Now the important part is that you connect the Asus routers WAN port to PORT 1 on the TPLink modem as this is the only port that is configured to bridge the connection
