Re: How does the playlist work?
Thanks @tarbatwill do, is the picture quality better than the terrible STV player?
Not really, they're both equally bad, although ad-skipping is easier in the STV Player.

@Annie+UK I'd stick to sky q.
Impossible as we have Sky+ 🙂 Sky Q is not for this household 🙂
Are you on a communal system and cannot get Sky Q?
No, we acyually have two separate dishes one for each box 🙂 Sky Q was rubbish at launch and the reports of its shortfalls keep me away, I'm waiting for a PROPER streaming service as eventually trees in front of our house will cause us a problem

@Annie+UK wrote:I'm hoping people are seeing some kind of huge bug with the playlist as this does not sound anything like how it was explained to us, but I'm fearing the worst 😞
The way I understand the playlist from what I've been reading is that you setup the playlist and you get the program from the channel's app meaning in most cases, rubbish quality and no way to fast forward the adverts. But what happens if the program you've added to the playlist is from a channel that doesn't have an app?
Why would users be forced to watch what's added to the playlist from the EPG using an app that gives poor video quality? That wiould mean that how long the program lasts is up to the app and not your normal at least 30 days.
To me, the playlist is not at all what I was expecting based on what Sky said in the launch video and it's what makes Sky Glass not good enough (IMHO). If I am wrong, please let me know.
I was thinking of Sky Glass in order to be able to watch UHD on the other TV and eventually a thrid TV.

Cobra is not a good example. Only the first 3 episdes are currently available. Thjere is a thread in the What's On forum about this.

Re: How does the playlist work?
When you add stuff from channel 5 to your playlist, it doesn't require an app. Why can't sky just do this with the other 4 channels?

Re: How does the playlist work?
Sky today announced the launch of Sky Glass, dramatically simplifying the way customers watch TV by integrating hardware, software and content. Sky Glass will be the only TV with award-winning Sky inside.
Unfortunaetely, Glass has not 'simplified' the way we watch TV. The playlist function is a significant issue against Glass. I, like others, had assumed probably too much from the Sky media and sales material - particularly when thay say it has 'Sky inside' and show a Sky Q box dissapearing inside the Glass. I assumed some form of cloud 'recording function' or at least being able to see something that you have playlisted immediately/shortly after and via the Glass UI.
Playlisting material from ITV is a joke - but it seems to work a lot better with Sky channels.
I'm happy with the picture and sound - but it is gloryfied version of Now TV! My wife hasn't tried it yet - I suspect she will not be happy!

Re: How does the playlist work?
Having set up for a couple of hours now and tried the Playlist, its not what I expected it to be.
As the ones who posted yesterday note, it really is shortcuts to the various catchup Apps by the other channels - not as I had hoped an actual programme sitting in my personal cloud waiting to be played.
As an indication of this news programmes such as Ch4 News are not in the planner - there is a gap. This I assume is that it would not be in the All4 App.
Sadly, even though it's App based Netflix and Amazon programmes cannot be added to the Playlist.

That's even worse than I thought it was. Can anyone remind me what the point of the Playlist is? In fact can someone remind Sky what it is supposed to do?

Re: How does the playlist work?
I really think that we've been mis-sold the Sky Glass in relation to this so called Playlist.
How Sky can release this product in it's current state is mind boggling!! It's got more bugs than an insect hotel, which yes I am sure software updates will improve things.
Back to the Playlist, in it's current state, I would rather buy a weekly copy of the TV Times and write reminders and then use my TV's app or Amazon Prime for ITV Hub in HD!!

That's one reason Glass only carries a subset of the channels broadcast from satellite. Every channel listed on Glass should be participating in the Playlist feature.

Thanks @tarbat , suspected it might be the same poor quality as a lot of it will be the same programmes. Anyway, I don't know if I'm doing something stupid but when I log in to the ITV Hub in the Apps section of Glass I can't see any entries for Loose Women. I do a search and it's not there. If I try to find Loose Women in ITV Hub on my laptop it is there. Weird!
One other weird thing I've noticed is that when I look at TV Guide there is a blank space at 1pm, 6pm and 10pm on BBC 1, STV and C4. Obviously these time slots are all when live news bulletins are on. I assume I am not the only one experiencing this, but haven't seen anybody mention it yet. Does this mean the only way to watch news bulletins at these times is to watch them live?

Re: How does the playlist work?
I can see why there isnt a sky glass ideas forum yet it would be full of posts saying make the 1,000 hours cloud 'recording' from channels like we thought it was going to be 😂
= Sky+ SD boxes x4 (pace bskyb 3100) ===

Obviously I'm blind thinking I'm the only one mentioning this, just noticed @Ger7 pointed this out a few posts back
