Anybody know how to get sky to look at fixing this? I have the pre-HDR box but would still like it in UHD?
@Freddy+Clover you could contact viewer relatons at viewerR@sky.uk

You could pass it on .

Freaky is only "Enhanced for UHD" so it's not actually from a native 4K master. You won't see much difference between the HD version upscaled by your Q box or TV, and the actual UHD download version, particularly as they're both SDR.

That depends on the TV and the source. So the amount of difference you see could vary.

See as Sky won't let us download the UHD SDR version to compare then we don't have a source to compare the HD version with...
The UHD HDR version looks pretty ropey to me - the blacks have been artificially brightened on the opening scene.
I've just started looking at the HD version and it looks a tad better on my TV. A bit grainier obviously but the whole opening scene is pretty dark anyway. Once it gets to the daylight scenes it's not vastly different to the HDR version.
The difference with the SDR UHD version would be pretty negligible, unless you're watching on a massive TV that's poor at upscaling.

How large a TV do you concider massive? I have a 65" LG OLED C1. But on my previous LG 55UH850V TV, I did do some comparisons with HD and UHD (withoiut HDR as SKy did not do HDR back then) and the UHD always looked better. How much better did vary.

I'd consider 65" pretty massive! How close to it do you sit?
It all depends on compression. Sky use quite a lot of it on HD content, less on UHD. You notice it more on dark scenes so the opening of Freaky isn't the best example. A less compressed BluRay disc upscaled by your TV can look just as good as a native 4K source.
Freaky was shot at 2.8K and upscaled to a 4K DI, so it's not a native 4K transfer, hence the "Enhanced for UHD" tag on Sky.
None of the other services streaming the 4K version (Prime, Apple TV, or Rakuten) mention that it's an upscale, which is pretty common, you have to hunt around on IMDB to find out! These streams do tend to be much less compressed than Sky Cinema's version though, and play at the correct speed.

Yeah same issue for me. Works if I download HD. Seems to be an issue on skys end.

The problem with the UHD/SDR version is on Sky's end.

@fizzdisco I would expect that an upscale from 2.8k would look better then the HD version. If I could, I'd compare the HD to the UHD/SDR. The thing is, that HDR can bring out details that may be there in the HD version just not as visible.
