Re: BST TIME CHANGE PLEASE READ!!!

I don't work for Sky so can only speculate;  but to the best of my knowledge, fact Sky+ boxes have not synched with clocks going back yesterday carries no threatening or sinister message or is even an indication that the world is going to end any sooner than young Boris is suggesting.

First time for everything I think is a mantra that still works.

Hold on tight, enjoy the ride and trust Sky will have this sorted by Thursday latest.

If I can find spare 10 minutes or so, I might read through Sky's t's & c's - see if anywhere they mention that clock provided with service is guaranteed to run to time throughout our contracts.

Take assurance that no tv recordings will be affected by this glitch : )

Re: BST TIME CHANGE PLEASE READ!!!

Have also been waiting for the sky clock to be put right. Although a little disconcerting at times when you glance at the time on screen, I'm managing to get on with life with no real issues despite the inconvenience.

I think some of us need to take a few minutes to think there are greater problems in the world today that deserve greater scrutiny than a clock that is known to be an hour out.

wouldn't say no to some kind of refund though as a gesture of good will lol.

Re: Box has not switched time to GMT

Since the non-hour change my recordings have been ending before the end of the programmes they were set to record  -  recordings have always been set to Automatic and have never had this problem before.

This is annoying!

Could reverse the mindset. Personally extremely grateful to Sky for this - merely imagining how many times over next few days, thinking I'm running late, I catch myself and thank Sky for gifting me an extra hour - fan-blooming-tastic : )

Re: BST TIME CHANGE PLEASE READ!!!

Just noticed they have moved all programmes along , so now Tipping Point on at 5pm, The Chase 6pm and News at 7pm.  At least we should be able to watch them at our correct time.

So they are working on it.

Re: BST TIME CHANGE PLEASE READ!!!

While this issue is unusual it is hardly detracting from the experience of watching the telly on Sky.  Sometimes things like this happen, no sense in bursting blood vessels over it - they say they'lll have it fixed by Thursday; lets leave them to sort it out as I am sure the novelty of this issue has probably caught them unawares too.

At least we can be thankful that the clock on this forum is correct 😊

Re: BST TIME CHANGE PLEASE READ!!!

If anyone here is like me, they're used to checking the time by looking at the Sky clock and used to answering the question "when is my program on?" by looking at the Sky planner timeline. And under normal circumstances the information gleaned from the Sky interface reliably matches real time.

Currently, and until Sky fix this, that effortless way of reading the Sky interface doesn't work; new and extra thinking is needed. The information given by the Sky clock or Sky planner timeline has to be reduced by one hour before us humans use the information to make real time decisions. If the Sky clock says 12:00, it actually means 11:00 real time. If the Sky timeline says a show starts at 8pm (and the recording is set to start at 8), it will actually correctly start at 7pm real time (and the recording will correctly start at 7 real time).

(I appreciate some have reported this is not working correctly for their recordings and reminders.)

Having to unexpectedly spend extra time thinking can cause uncertainty, anxiety and difficulty, depending on current personal circumstances. Some see it as no big deal, some as inconvenient, and others as extremely irritating (and want Sky to feel their pain). Coming to a forum to share feelings, worries, and information and to seek advice and reassurance is simply a human in need of other humans during a period of disruption to their normal daily ways of doing things. I don't think it's fair nor helps to call others foolish, stupid, lazy, unintelligent, or to mock and ridicule them with sarcasm.

For what it's worth I'd rather not have to think to watch TV, but here we are. Mistakes are human and the person or team responsible will be wiser and more expert for this experience, and that growth is a silver lining. I try not to jump to conclusions about Sky's motives nor competence nor what this should cost them. I simply don't know.

Perhaps someone should change the thread subject to include the lastest update 😉

What should really happen is that the thread should now be closed to further input, APART from an official Sky comment - no one can input anything further of any use unless you actually work for Sky!

I have found a solution... I have moved to France - and now my Sky+ Box has the right time!

Re: BST TIME CHANGE PLEASE READ!!!

DST was to be scrapped this year, but Brexit & Covid screwed that up!

When DST is eventually scrapped, this problem will never happen again.

Whether the UK will follow the EU on this matter remains to be decided.

The UK have been so pig-headed on Brexit matters, they possibly won't!

Another problem is that Ireland can't risk having 2 time zones on the island.
