Re: I received a call from sky

You did the right thing genuine people (or clever scammers) will draw you into a conversation to make you comfortable then start exploiting you. If you answer and Don't speak scammers normally hang up

Re: I received a call from sky

The call screening function on iPhone has really reduced the calls I receive, not just claiming to be from Sky but in general

Re: I received a call from sky

Hi, hopefully apple do something for there customers that great if so, I'm sure other phone providers do something similar, doesn't stop scammers piggybacking off networks and stolen and sold information, good luck to all stay vigilant, scammer call centres make hundreds of thousands of call per day by using algorithms, if you choose to answer Don't say anything if the phone goes dead it's a scam but some of them will engage you in conversation, beware and good luck

Re: I received a call from sky

I keep getting calls from this number never get the chance to answer, 2 or 3 rings!!!!!!!!

As i dont watch TV at all (the boss does) i hate paying for it, to ring get the marketing bull "I'll get you manager deal etc" to have it creep up to more than it was before. Disgraceful.

Re: I received a call from sky

Sick to the back teeth of sky ringing me every day !  I keep telling them not to ring anymore , but nope,  more phone calls.   We got rid of sky broadband and rid of sky tv so the only thing we have now with sky are mobile phones .  If they keep harassing me on a daily basis I'll be getting rid of those too!

@soulie  Are you certain it's sky calling and not scammers who can easily spoof a number to make it look like sky calling

Re: I received a call from sky

Yup, just had exactly the same happen to me - hung up when I said that they'd already announced my name which I confirmed, so why did I need to reconfirm it - call gone...

This is two days after being told that, just under a month before I can cancel my contract that the best price that can be offered for TV ONLY (with only movies, sport and Ultra HD) is £118 a month moving forward...  I was presuming it was a call to try and get me to stay, but - with that demeanour - definitely going to be moving on...

Re: I received a call from sky

We used to pay around £125 for sky tv + bb ( no sky sports).   We now have virgin media tv + netflix and have had fibre super fast bb installed.  Costs us £45 a month !    No brainer

Re: I received a call from sky

Just shows how much 'loyal' customers are being ripped off then. Switching is usually the way to go as retentions aren't that generous these days.

Re: I received a call from sky

It's always worth calling in on a dedicated sky number to see if a GENUINE Sky advisor can offer any deals

Re: I received a call from sky

thats the problem you HAVE to ring them, & complain to get anything, you get a reduction then it creeps up to more than it was, then to get told your a VIP member & all that tosh gee whizz the brass neck of it.

Considering i dont watch TV (especially the news) havent for 6 years plus,

I was speaking to sky but they hung up as i put them on the spot & asked a striaght question so they rang off ....innit!

Sooner Mrs wakes up to the rubbish on TV the better,

Also it will all fall down after & all terrestial TV & Radio signals will be shut off by 2034 & sat not long after that, if not before, will be all online which will be a disaster as we are not ready for it now or will be then. 🙂

Re: I received a call from sky

I refuse to deal with a company that continually increases its prices to loyal customers and the minute you ring to try and reduce your package, they suddenly are able to knock ££££££'s off your bill !   Hence why we moved to virgin media and saved ourselves around £80 a month!

Re: I received a call from sky

They're all the same though, I moved from BT to Sky simply because Sky's deals were better than the retention BT were offering. No doubt I'll have to switch from Sky when this contract is up.

Er... Virgin do the same  - your contract will detail the cost after your minimum term.  (And you'll have to ring and negotiate in exactly the same way...)

The difference though is that VM have built in annual price rises (in pounds) that you cannot avoid as you've agreed to them...
