I also had a call today, Asian man offering to reduce my monthly bills because they will be increasing in April but as a diamond VIP member they wanted too thank me by reducing the cost...At last I thought, a decent thank you for being with Sky for 25 years! Because let's be honest the  'Rewards'or'loyalty programme' is one big competition/lottery and not rewards. He then offered to reduce my monthly cost by offering me a great VIP benefit of a reduced subscription to Formula1. And all for £xxx!!! So I asked him how much we'd pay without that great benefit and with the price rises?? £2 less!! 

He was a liar.

 

Despite me telling him repeatedly that I didn't have any interest in F1 or the sports package (he subsequently tried to sell me) he continued to push what a great extra benefit this was. 
Congrats Sky you've managed to really *#!! me off despite our silver anniversary.

Sounds similar to mine, they have access to sky data if they aren't Sky. All they are interested in is selling you more subscriptions at a really "amazing" offer.

 

I personally won't be talking to any cold callers if I want a change then I will phone Sky myself.

Actually I challenged him to prove he was calling from Sky and he offered three pieces of info to choose from to prove he had my account details. He did ask for my password after that for security.

They keep on calling me. As soon as I ask them for details, they disconnect.

Massive scam incredible amount of money in it for the scammers, destroying lives, sky should be on top of this it should be a priority for them but I guess money talks 🤔

Unfortunately its hard for telecoms companies like Sky to prevent this. Sky aren't the only customers where the scammers pretend to be their representatives, you will see almost identical scams happening for the likes of o2 and Vodafone as well.

I had a call from that number but I do think it was spoofed as it came up as: +44800. Not 0800.

I got a call. Genuine. Bill in April was going to be £123 added full sky sports gave some heavy discounts on multi room, cinema, and some smaller adjustments Bill is now £125 with full sports channel. Includes gigafast broadband, Netflix standard, multi room, cinema, signiture, and UHD sky sports HD. Effectively got sports for £2 per month. I am happy.

They had the cheek to call me again earlier today, the caller had No clue what sky package i have and couldn't tell me when i asked ? I let the call go further whilst the so called advisor promised me savings, when i said I'm tied into a contract (which I'm not) for 18 months they hung up ? It also strikes me now that your paying more than before and how long is your New contract?

No. I did not have sky sports. my April Bill was going up from £116 to £123 due to increases. They did some discounts on my existing package added sky sports and April Bill is now £125 with the addition of sky sports. A net increase of £2.

 

I had cancelled sky sports because I was only watching F1.

I had a call from this number today, saying as my bill is going up they have some offers for me.

 

Confirmed my surname and sure enough they hung up, do I need to block this number? I'm getting scam vibes....

@Twopants68 the problem is it is a Sky number, so blocking it may mean you miss a genuine call. The scammers mimick the official number to dupe people.

 

I would keep it unblocked but always practice caution when any company claims to need to speak to you out of the blue. Ask them to confirm your details, rather than the other way, for example.
