Netflix

Hi, this week the view when I open Netflix via my sky q box changed. It now expands each item I select in a row into a huge box (see photo) and gives a mini synopsis and also moved the options to the top of the screen instead of the side, meaning I have to scroll all the way back up to the top to get to my options. It hasn't changed on either of my mini boxes and I haven't changed my subscription or anything.

I am neurodivergent and I really can't stand it and it puts me off watching Netflix. How can I change the view on the sky q box when it's not impacting the mini boxes?

thanks for any help I can get!

@Idontwantausernam  Thats how Netflix have developed it, it's not just on Sky Q, Sky Glass or Sky Stream it's on their own app on other platforms so you would be better raising your issue to Netflix themselves.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

Re: Netflix

@Idontwantausernam  Amazon Prime did a similar thing a while back, completely changed their User Interface & at first I didn't really like it. But, after a while, I got used to it & it doesn't bother me now.

Netflix has decided to do a copy of what Amazon Prime has now, so when I saw the change on Netflix, it was something I was used to. Hopefully, in time, you will also get used to it.

By the way, I like your username. 😀

As mentioned above.

This is the new layout, being pushed across all devices that support Netflix.

Must say, I have not warmed to it that well.

Always thought the previous layout worked well.

Have been finding I'm spending a lot more time scrolling through the menus and rails, that to me seem very jumbled and not really seeing the recommendations up front working for me now, as they used to so well.

Re: Netflix

Agreed, it's not great and particularly for being neurodivergent

Agreed with you all, I preferred the old design. Not user friendly and particularly being neurodivergent

From the second link above: Detailed information about each title: Having a hard time choosing between this show or that movie? We’ve been there. With the new interface, you can discover what makes each title worth the watch before you commit to pressing play. Preview a title’s synopsis, runtime, award wins, Top 10 history, or key cast all up-front while you browse.

Does this mean it will no longer start playing a show or a film the second you have a look at it? You know, that thing NF introduced & everyone hates. You're browsing, you want to " See more info ", you click on that to see more details, like a synopsis, cast list, runtime, but it starts playing even though you don't want to start watching. It would be great if that has stopped.

A post I made on here on 10th August, about 1.50 pm, has disappeared. I'm fairly sure it didn't break any rules. Can a moderator have a look for it & pop it back on, please? Thanks.

@Mr+Ripley

Im with you on the previews.
The new layout now seems to be over playing them upfront.

If you want to turn off previews.

Log in to your Netflix account via a web browser, select a profile and in the playback settings you can tweak the playback options or turn them off on all devices.

@lettice  Firstly, thanks for finding my post, not sure how that happened, must be the weekend gremlins.

As to the previews, I do have that turned off in my settings. However, the previews are different from what I mentioned in my post. I'm talking about when you go to a show, whether it's part of your personal list or not, & it starts to play immediately. The only way to stop it is to go back, or click on " Episodes & More " or one of the other options below that one.

The blurb from NF says, "With the new interface, you can discover what makes each title worth the watch before you commit to pressing play. Preview a title’s synopsis, runtime, award wins, Top 10 history, or key cast all up-front while you browse. "  I have the new UI & I can't find any of that in the way they are saying it should be seen. The " Credits & More Info " button does give me the cast, but none of the other things mentioned. They are making it sound as though we can access all that information without the programme or film starting to play. This is not the case as far as I can tell. If anyone can show me what NF means by that blurb, then please do.

Not that sure the way to see extra info has changed much, but it seems every title has a large heads up title displayed now.

There is though now a more expansive credit, cast, genres etc info, per programme.

On any programme tile, select it, do not hit play or resume button, scroll down to 'Credits and more info'  and select either Cast, Genres etc
