Heart of an Oak

Yesterday, my partner & I watched a brilliant nature documentary called Heart of an Oak. It centres on a 210-year-old Oak tree in France over the course of the different seasons, & the animals & insects that inhabit it & live around it. It was quite mesmerising to watch; we could have happily watched for hours. The cinematography is brilliant & everything looks gorgeous. It also sounds wonderful; it really captures the woodland area. Part of the reason for this is that there isn't any narration at all. It is all about the visuals & the sound. Kudos has to be given to the team that filmed this for their dedication & patience.

There was one particular bird chase sequence that should have been impossible to film, but somehow they managed it, I would love to know how; it was incredible.

Heart of an Oak is available on Amazon Prime, free if you have an account. It has a U certificate & although there are a couple of moments of mild peril, it is ideal for small children. It runs for 80 minutes & there weren't any ads during our viewing. If you like nature programmes, you really should watch this one.
