Multiview - what a disappointment

OK some will like it, and I know its working exactly as they designed it to work, and I suppose given that intention it works quite well. But in terms of meeting the user requirement of 'I want to watch more than one game at once' its the wrong solution.

The better solution is just show the multiple screens without the magazine hosted format. Again, I know that's kind of the point, it's a live action soccer Saturday, but it doesn't truly allow you to watch two games properly

- let it work when there are at least two games, why require four

- just split the screen into four quarters so they are equal, the three mini screens are too small to be useful

- allow you to choose the main game for commentary by the remote arrow keys

- if there are more than four games on, last day of season for example, let you choose your own games

- in fact why limit it to football, when golf or F1 is often clashing with football

I know years ago they used to have something similar to allow two sports channels at once but they discontinued it, sky will probably say it wasn't used enough but I really don't understand why.

Just my view!

Edit: if this is what they are going for the main screen needs to be more dynamic. It was watching Everton knock the ball across their back four when at wolves Brighton there was a corner. Corner led to a goal but they missed it

After the F1 finished. I did give this a go.

Likes:

Did enjoy the rolling commentary of Andy and Lee, across the matches, as they swapped over the main match, from the four available. Almost seemed a seemless flow most of the time, well done to them for that.

Did not see any transition issues between the main match for action as it switched over as the replays and live incidents were bought to the main match very quickly at those key times.

Dislikes:

Would prefer the four matches to all be split at the same size, so as mentioned in post above, each taking up a quarter of the screen. It should be obvious which one they are commentating on, so no need to flag the focussed match in any way.

In the layout at the moment, it kind of gives you a headache or eye strain feeling with your eyes focussing on the small to large.

Be honest, I'd really enjoy having Sky Sports News live with multiple pundits and live updates on live matches and then choose Myself if I want to switch to that match if it's available on Sky Sports.

I'm not sure if I will really use this multi view in the future, happy to use a second screen via phone/tablet for any multi view watching along with the TV and flick through my main TV viewing berpetween events as I do now.

I also many years ago, did like the previous Sky Sports channel split screen, but I heard comments from many that rarely used or particularly enjoyed it, not just Sky's own comments on it.

Re: Multiview - what a disappointment

Just said very similar things on the DS forums.

Very strange way of doing it.

Re: Multiview - what a disappointment

Agree with the comments especially as the customer would love to be able to choose which game. I do love the multiview and would love to be able to see it watching different channels as well

As noted on another thread the games did have there own feed so you could have watched one game and use multiview on a second screen

Re: Multiview - what a disappointment

Some of us don't have two screens! I hope they bring back at some stage the ability of watching two different channels

Re: Multiview - what a disappointment

A comment on the DS forums, which I am inclined to agree with is that Sky cant offer the true Multiview functionality on entertainment OS so wont offer it on Q which has had it before and Now which is Peacock in a different skin that has it now.
