Is this the end

Will there be another series or will this series have a final end?

Itd such a Shame when there is a huge gap between series. Its like stranger things whem that finally airs the kids are all grown ups.

I suppose a lot has to do with the actors commitments, money etc

I may be wrong but i'd also suspect that a vast proportion of the production crew is probably planned to work on more than one of the GOT spin-offs series which again would likely limit just how often they could produce a GOT based TV season.

I think if a show got recommissioned for multiple seasons , they would likely try and film multiple seasons at the same time whilst they are have the actors and are in the correct locations. However as it tends to get recommissioned one season at a time, at around the time the previous season starts to air it does mean they can't produce a new season annually.

At the glacial pace of the recent episodes, there would need to be several seasons in total to cover the book.

I'd think at least one more after this one, possibly two but that presumably depends on ratings.

Hey,

I am sure there will be season 3, but not sure about season 4. I would love to have another series about Valyria in it's prime and the doom after this one.

They commissioned season 3 before season 2 even started broadcasting, so there is definitely at least one more season to come. I believe it's expected to air in 2026 with a different GOT spinoff ( Knight of the Seven Kingdoms ) which is currently being filmed being broadcast next year.

Thanks for that information. I can't see it running for as long as Game of Thrones but happy a 3rd season is in the offing.

It is a bit of a grind at times isn't it?

Perhaps GoT was the same but I have just forgotten!

I kind of know what you are saying, but there has to be a lot of dialogue to make  the exciting bits more exciting.

A third season is set for release next year.
There has been no mention of a fourth season, but so far for this series, a new series has only officially been confirmed a month before the current season starts

From what I have fathomed and with the timeline from the original books, it may only be three seasons.
But, there are plenty of talk/rumours about other pre/post timelines and expanded character stories of the two we have had so far for new future series.

I would be very surprised, if there were no more around the Westeros world, seeing its populatity.

They will need to expand and use artistic licence, they certainly can't rely on George RR Martin's speed of delivering new books!

Plenty of avenues to explore in the existing material.

Yes you certainly can't hurry George R R Martin. I suppose creativity can't be rushed.

Re: Is this the end

There is always so much speculation about if there is going go be another season, is there going to be a spin off etc. We never know until it happens.

It was the same with Game of Thrones,  there was meant to be a series called SNOW it even had the posters etc with ghost and Jon Snow but nothing ever came of it. I would have loved that to have been screened.

Re: Is this the end

I've decided to stop watching. I've become terribly bored by the glacial pace of the storytelling. I've better things to do with my life, and there are much better drama series elsewhere which I'm finding to be much more engaging.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the series and any future ones. I'm out!

That's a shame @Mister_Dalek but there are people here who think otherwise.

Let's stop baiting other users as advised in our Community Rules please, it's counterproductive at this point.

What did you think about the last episode? I really enjoyed it myself 🐉

Spoiler
Finally got my dragon dose 😁 Loved how Rhaenyra called out Vermithor and their interation! I swear he would have accepted her as a rider 😁 Silverwing was so funny how she choose her rider and their first flight over the capital. Looks like Aemond had more sense than Vhagar, she was so ready to engage 😄 I feel a bit unsure about the Alicent part, I know it meant to be symbolic, but could have lived without that scene.
